I gave this cruise a rating of terrible because there was no lower rating to choose. Because I worked 42yrs in an industry that did not allow for the number of days away needed this was our first opportunity to go on my husbands dream trip. The Panama Canal. Originally we were going to choose the 16 day version of this cruise until we found out that all the ports of call on the first half of the trip, from LA to Panama hand been canceled and we did not want to spend 4days at sea. This in mind we & our best friends (10 time cruisers with Princess) changed to the 10 day version Ft Lauderdale to the Panama Canal and back. This change of itinerary should have been an omen but our 2 cruises with Royal Caribbean & 1 cruise with Princess were all so fabulous in every way that we pushed this warning sign aside and booked the trip. This as our 1st vacation in 16yrs! Little did we know what we were in for, but Princess knew! First I will mention the positive factors. Their names are Ismael & Enrico, our waiter & his assistant, Julian our cabin steward, and Anna a wonderful young woman at the customer service desk who were all the best!!! One of the 2 out of 5 scheduled excursions had a wonderful guide through the rain forest of Costa Rica. That’s it. Nothing else on this trip was a positive except the company of our best friends of 30+ years. Never in my life have I felt so robbed, so despondent and so angry all at one time. Where do I begin? We were only allowed to go on 2 of the 5 excursions we booked as we were not allowed to dock at the other 3 countries. My #1 choose of excursions on this trip was riding horses on the beach in Jamaica. I had the chance to do this once before &ziti was the most fabulous experience of my life. To have a second chance, in the meantime I actually learned how to ride had my own tack, rode weekly, was a dream come true. Strike #1! The Panama Canal excursion was my husband’s dream excursion. He waited for this trip his whole life. He is 14yrs my senior and very fit, and at 77 we probably won’t make the trip again. In addition this was our 40th anniversary trip. The food: all 3 cruises we have been on prior to this one the food was the crowning glory of the trip. Exquisite dishes expertly prepared. A wide variety of fresh expertly prepared meals excellent every one. THE FOOD ON THIS CRUISE WAS WORSE THAN DISAPPOINTING IT WAS DOWN RIGHT MEDIOCRE! The meat had poor flavor and bad color as if it was not fresh. The fish was ok off & on depending on the meal. Princess made a point of using 3 pages online to describe their “Chocolate Journeys” and the extraordinary chef they had on board to create them. Well they were very good but they were only offered 4 times on the 10 day cruise. The menu was on the left side the same every night so if you couldn’t find anything on the right side to like you had something to fall back on. What kind of a menu is that??!!! Breakfast was just ok as was lunch. There was no “Captain’s Reception” as in past cruises even though our best friends were 10 time cruisers. The Horizon Buffet which was described in such luscious terms that I couldn’t wait to eat there not only was not good but it was actually leftovers from the dining rooms from the day before that they tried to spiff up or disguise as something else! Leftovers! Bad leftovers! It got to the point where halfway through the cruise the only thing we looked forward to was desert and it too became repetitive. Overall the food was a complete bust to put it mildly. Entertainment: once again the word mediocre comes to mind immediately. There was one trivia evening that lasted about 45 that we really enjoyed. That’s it. My husband would give a few dollars to the casino at the end of night out of boredom. Shopping: The prices in the shops were, on fragrance about $3 cheaper than home, just no tax. The t-shirts for sale to commemorate the trip were very cheap quality. When I got home & compared them to the ones we punched on previous cruises, that are still fit to wear from 16 years ago, were ten times better quality. The main thing my girlfriend & I bought was “gold by the inch”, which I had experience with and knew that they stand behind their product, had a salesperson who did not know what she was doing, could not add even with a calculator & had to have help with almost every transaction. I bought a necklace and bracelet early in the cruise and when I went to take it off that night it broke, not at the clasp but one of the link fell apart! When I went the next day to return it she had to get her manager who was a nasty, rude, crabby man who actually told me that it was my fault that it broke!!! Oh, I forgot to mention that I had a 10% off coupon and a $25 gift card from the cruise line. I checked the next day at the service desk because I did not trust her math and my gift card had not been deducted!!! The water in the pool was cloudy and no one was in it. Very few deck chairs to be had. This being our 1st vacation in so many years, I stepped up my five day a week workouts at the gym so would look extra nice in my painstakingly chosen new swimming suits. I never even put one of them on! To sum up this cruise: WE SPENT CLOSE TO $10,000 ON A VERY SPECIAL AND LOG AWAITED AND DESERVED VACATION AND GOT A GIANT DISAPPOINTMENT FOR OUR MONEY!!! We spent $10,000 including $1000 on platinum cancellation insurance, which we should have used after the first excursion stop was canceled! PRINCESS CRUISE LINES OWE US A COMPLETE AND TOTAL REFUND! Even that cannot give us back my husbands dream vacation, our 40th anniversary trip vacation or make up for an experience so bad that we will never forget it. Nothing can make this up to us and I intend to share our experience with social media as well. I believe with all my being that Princess knew what going to happen before we sailed and the cruise should have been canceled.......... Read Less

This is a senior citizen cruise and should be advertised as such. Pros: • The room steward & most of the staff was friendly. • The cabins were decent. Cons: • No events to do for younger people • The showers in the cabin seem smaller than usual. The balcony was filthy. • The food is terrible and the menus are too complicated • Some staff was not so friendly. Even had one roll their eyes at me for no reason • The elevators smelled so bad during the cruise • Dining room is very strict about dress code • The only thing to do on the cruise for younger people is go to the casino or pool • We were only able to go to 2 of the 5 ports and only got a $100 credit per person for that. I understand it’s not Princess’s fault but they should’ve done more. This cruise might be fun if you’re 60 or older. If you’re younger, stay away. There is nothing to do for you. I spent the whole cruise, besides when at port, in my cabin and there wasn’t even any good TV shows or movies on the TV. Read Less

We chose this cruise to see the islands Jamaica, Panama Canal, Cayman Islands , Columbia, and Costa Rica. Unfortunately due to rough water and Corona Virus scare we could only see Columbia and Costa Rica. This was very disappointing and the water was very rough going from Fort Lauderdale in Florida to Jamaica causing many people to get motion sickness and was the main reason for our ship not stopping at Jamaica. We were stuck on this ship for 8 out of 10 days . The ship is need of interior repairs (floors were rough under carpet causing trip hazards, pipes in ceiling were leaking in hallways) Pools onboard were empty of water due to rough sea conditions. Entertainment was ok but could have been better if they were to make it to the ship, some flights were cancelled the entertainment could't make it to the ship. I would not recommend princess cruises for cruising, I thought they were highly reputable cruise line but I was wrong. Read Less

BREAKFAST Most of the food in the buffet was COLD. The toast, English muffins, and bagels were run through an automated toaster when the buffet was opened and were served for the next several hours. Fried eggs were also cooked earlier and the warming pans delivered either cold or luke warm eggs. The only made to order item were the omelets, and they were great! LUNCH & DINNER Again much of what was served was cold. There was a good variety of meat served, but it was way overcooked, dry, and tastless. MAIN DINING ROOMS Very little variety and again luke warm fish and meat (overcooked). Nothing special except on the two formal nights. If you did not bring your formal atire, no filet or lobster. We should have ignored the formal attire since the "Smart Casual" requirement was not enforced. We saw shorts, flip-flops, sweat pants, ripped jeans, and T-shirts. "Any Time Dining" was a myth. You need to make a reservation in advance and each time we tried we could only get a time of 5:30 or after 7:15. ENTERTAINMENT All venues, especially the central plaza or atrium, were so loud you could not get out of or walk by fast enough. What they lacked in talent they made up for in volume. CHARGES FOR WHAT OTHER LINES GIVE OUT FOR FREE Bottled water, soft drinks, playing cards, all are charged to your account. The Library and game room is a joke. We have seen larger facilities on river cruise boats. Internet fees are also high when compared with other cruise lines. The only free coffee we found was at the buffet which was far away from our stateroom. NEWS AND TELEVISION No CNN or ESPN. Fox News may be fine for the ultra right and MSNBC for the left. But, that was your only choices. They did have Euro Sports and CNBC. Having sailed with Oceania eleven times, I missed the free four page USA Today that was delivered free to my stateroom daily. Also available on Oceania is a free full version of the USA Today in the Concierge Lounge. You cannot even buy one on Princess. OTHER Prices in the boutiques were mostly outrageous. $30 for a logo plastic water bottle or $24 for an insulated coffee cup. Part of the problem with this ship is it's size. Elevator wait times on s ship with 3,700 passengers is often very long. Read Less

Mothers 90th birthday, port is local/easy drive, like the ship overall, always enjoy the Riviera. We have sailed on the Royal 8 times and enjoy the ship. It's not as nice as the Emerald and such, as the layout of this ship is awkward. Having the open deck on 7, is quite enjoyable for most people.. They Royal forces you to stay inside, unless you go up to deck 16, which is often too windy/cold. Our full suite was filthy, with multiple non working lights. It took 4 days to get the lights all working, but we had a filthy room the whole time. The steward did NOT change the sheets in the babies crib, leaving crumbs etc for the baby to sleep on.. He did NOT provide us with the amenities that are given with a suite.. We spent too many hours reporting things, showing repair crew what was wrong etc... C102. We did have CLUB CLASS dining, which was nice as there is no wait. We requested a waiter that was not in CC and they brought him over.. He provided excellent service throughout the cruise. Encore is a great show, the others are so so... Read Less

Pros: Clean ship The Buffet area well staffed and friendly. Jorge at the “Seaview Bar” on pool deck. Only friendly bartender we had. Overall crew was friendly. Angel at Guest Services was the best! Nice lounge areas (but read the cons about this). Best cruise ship bed ever. Large closet Salty Dog on pool deck was the best food all week. Hot and freshly cooked as ordered. On and off ship was great Cons: Rocky Ship and don’t believe it was due to the weather. Small rooms, tight to move around Catering towards 65 and over. Food was warm and bland for the most part. Comedian was just OK. We thought the magician was funnier and his magic was awesome. Didn’t see other shows didn’t want to wait 45 min before shows for good seat since we weren’t getting good feeling about the shows. If you want a chair of any sort get up at 7 and plop a towel down and go back to bed like the other 3000 passengers did! Finally got up at 7 on last pool day and I took a pick. You couldn’t get a Lounger on Lido deck all covered with towels and no one on them ! If your into watching people dancing to 40’s music in the Piazza area (which is the main part of the ship) then you will love it. DRINK PACKAGE! Worst ever on Any ship. Don’t say its an unlimited drink package when it only covers 15 per day! Then if you go over they pretty much access you and then you have to start paying. I’m sure your thinking 15 is good for one day until you see the pour. They MEASURE everything! Order a double and you get charged for two drinks towards your package. We’ve sailed on other lines. We will never sail on princess again. Last one was in RC amd we were bowing down to them when we left ! App is terrible. No drink service by any pools. Poor entertainment by Lido pool. If I wanted to watch movies every afternoon I would of stayed home. There were plenty of other quite areas if you needed. Lido deck should not be one of them. Princess should advertise this ship as a senior citizen cruise PERIOD! FYI the group that went are all in there 50s. Read Less

We selected this cruise as an alternative to flying home from an expedition cruise to Antarctica. Cruising is a great way to see multiple countries, have a consistent place to eat, plus the opportunity to enjoy entertainment and other amenities. People should also know they are a captive audience, pay more for adult beverages, excursions, will likely experience nonstop marketing to buy items on board, pay 20 - 30 dollars a day for Internet, to frequent the paid-for restaurants, or purchase spa treatments. In summary, after 15 cruises on Hurtigruten, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Norwegian, Holland America, Carnival, Princess, and smaller cruise / ferries, Princess was our worst value / experience of any cruise, with Hurtigruten being the best by orders of magnitude. Positives - Matt O - the cruise director who lead the exercise classes, the outdoor movie theater screen, a nice birthday greeting for my wife, and our room attendant. Now for the negatives... 1) We started the cruise with an excursion issue as we booked our cruise online to see Carnaval in Rio, when we got on ship, our excursion was not recorded and now there was no availability. We were relayed to multiple desks, with over 2 hours of waiting, and was finally met by a customer relations manager who ultimately told us it was our issue, they had no way to contact Princess support, and they would only grant us one day internet to see if we could solve our own problem. We told the CRM we needed multiple devices online and was told to just create the account and it would be later credited. Fast-forward a few days, and we see the charge on our bill. We went and met with the same CRM who told us that we could only have the 1 device internet, and we had to pay the difference. He stated that we were not listening like we didn't listen the previous day, and only after asking for his director, did he remove it from our bill. 2) Health Management - We noticed numerous people on the ship who were openly coughing and some passengers jokingly referred to it as the cruise cough. Two specific examples of many include one observation was a woman who was in the Wheelhouse lounge continuously coughing without covering her mouth, with two employees within 10 feet of her, this woman was shivering, took her jacket and covered herself like a blanket, then laid down on the couch. She was not asked to leave the public area and we left the lounge. The second example was in the Horizon Court buffet area, referred to as the cough-eteria. A woman was within 10 feet of the opening at the end of the buffet, openly coughing without covering her mouth, spits up into her ship napkin, at which point I mentioned it to the cruise staff. I went to get coffee and returned to walk past the same woman at the same table, flossing her teeth at the table. This was within 5 feet of the cruise staff and nothing was done while we were there. I submitted a note to the desk, but received no response. We observed no medical screening upon disembarkation the ship when exiting the ship or entering the port terminal and customs. It was astonishing in this global situation of the Corona outbreak, why did Princess not have health monitors asking people to leave the public areas or even have exit medical screening. We avoided many of the shows and other lounge events on this cruise due to our observations. Multiple passengers said they would only go to the doctor on board if they were near death as they realized it would result in isolation or other considerations (we saw multiple people removed from the ship in ambulances). This is more of a human behavior study than a Princess issue, but know that this thinking was rampant on the cruise. 3) Carnaval excursion - This excursion was our main interest on this trip outside of getting home. This was a very busy excursion and when we were traveling to the Samba-school location for the event, we received many instructions on safety and where cruise staff would be so when we needed to return from the event, we could do it safely and without issue. We left at the parade time they recommended, the same location we entered, and it was chaotic at best. We saw no Princess staff present where we entered, and we had to exit into the bus area, luckily finding a Hamburg cruise staff member who told us where the Princess buses and representatives were located. It was also interesting having the bus driver take us through a drunken block party, having people bang on the bus, with the driver subsequently running the remaining red light avoiding stopping on the return. 4) The remaining are grouped. The food quality and selection was very disappointing and it felt like you were at common buffet in or near your hometown, after the lunch or dinner rush. Non-stop pressure to spend more money was clearly the Princess focus - you should know what you're getting into when you get on a ship, so our fault - but it was to the level of a circus side show caller doing the come one, come all, this is the greatest, most rare, your only chance, yadda style of getting people to purchase more. Worst of it was the Effy jewelry sales rep. The Princess Patter documentation for ports did not provide a relative distance for each port of key sights and it was clear their primary interest was to get you on their excursions and less on those who want to walk - again no surprise, and our fault. The port stops were very poor, although there were plenty of the Diamonds International and other cruise port supported shops in the main area, but step out from there and good luck. Needless to say, we will never cruise Princess again and it will likely affect any ship under its holding company. To end this on a positive note, if you want an other-worldly experience on a cruise, take a cruise on Hurtigruten. It will change your life for the positive. Read Less

We have cruised with princess for the past 10 years. They are absolutely consistent with 4 star service. They are constantly upgrading and hands down they have the best entertainment from the big Vegas Style production shows to the single magic and comedy acts. The cabin rooms are white glove clean and anything we ask for, is delivered promptly to our room. The only shortcoming is some ships dining menus are not like they used to be. This particular cruise did not have an exciting menu but that's the executive chef. My specific bèef is that they dont have my favorite " Rice Pudding" Anyone who asks, we give Our last cruise was amid the corona virus and the measures the ship staff went to was over and above all expectations. We couldn't have had better care from our mothers at home ! We would gladly go back right now even when the corona virus is escalating across the globe. This pandemic was not created by cruise ships. Being on a ship in tgemiddle of an ocean is the safest place on earth. A ship is floating quarantine. Planes are moving virus carriers around the globe. Princess scores 12 out of 10. Read Less

We had saved for this trip of a lifetime and it was shocking. We were told the boat had been deep cleaned and it was perfectly safe to travel as the norovirus was no longer an issue. This could have been no further from the truth. Within two days passengers were vomiting with diarrhoea. As you walked to your cabin you could smell both. People were very poorly and they tried to play it down my saying it was mild. As soon as we boarded crew were serving buffet food. There were long waits for food at peak times. Once you got your food you then had to line up again for your drinks. They should have at least had staff serving water to your table. Hand washing was meant to be strict and in most cases it was but on several occasions we saw passengers skip the hand washing and just use the gel which is not effective against Norovirus. Tables were not wiped properly. Top and part of your chair but in an outbreak the edges should be wiped. Norovirus escalated very quickly so on day two we decided we would not go to shows or use the pool. Take the stairs and avoid touching anything outside our cabin. I can honestly say we were disciplined. Passengers were emptying their drink containers down hand washing sinks, this should not be allowed. Interactive screens were not wiped. When we pointed this out to guest services their reply was we did not think of that. Four days before the cruise was due to end I caught it. Can only put it down to chopping fruit onto my cereal as my hands possibly touched the table then touched food. We followed protocol. Called 911 from our cabin. We were told a nurse would call. My husband had to call over 24 hours three times and complain to guest services. No fresh water arrived when we asked. I ended up on a drip. Very poor medical care. Once in the medical centre it was good. Food was bland and uninspiring. We really struggled to find tasty food. Salad was probably the best option. It was more like a back street cafe. Staff were friendly and helpful and the only positive thing I can say about the cruise. I will say though the sanitation staff were poor and did not do the job well. I can see why this virus is still onboard and continues to spread. It’s really put us off cruising with Princess. Cabins are okay. Tired and dated. Read Less

This cruise line will nickel and dime you to death. My recommendation would be to find an all inclusive line. This ship is in dire need of mechanical repair. not to just paint over rust to hide it from uninformed tourists. The carpet is stained the walls need painting . The entire ship needs an upgrade. Choose another one, preferably one where you know all charges before you leave the port. One engine had been out for a minimum of two cruises before ours ,and is still out on the cruise they are on now, severely affecting the stabilizers.many people were seasick ,the customer service blamed it on rough seas ,I have sailed for many years ,I know rough seas. We didn’t have any. This boat should have been flat as solid ground. But listening to people at meals and how I’ll they were spoke volumes.i would never recommend this cruise line. My understanding is they have a new CEO. he needs to take this ship and see if it is acceptable to him.Sheila Carroll Read Less

We really liked our mini suite cabin location (E729). And the food was delicious, as always. But except for a very small handful of staff/crew, and an amazing bunch of passengers we met on board this cruise , this was actually the worst cruise, out of 20, that I've ever been on. Staff/crew was anywhere from dismissive to our requests (like...a basket of rolls at dinner in anytime dining or waiting an hour & fifteen minutes (for prime rib), to requesting, many times,to have a waiter be sent over to take drink orders & bus tables in the outdoor area where upwards of 40 people would be sitting, and never getting one) to downright condescending. I enjoyed the ports, as always. Although once in Manzanillo is all one needs. If that. Make sure you get into port before 10 am, or you will miss port photos. Service in assigned dining is FAR greater than service in anytime dining. Read Less

I recently came back from the Royal Princess five day cruise to Cabo. I have to say I will never cruise with Princess again. The room NEVER stopped shaking - five days 24hours - because I beleive it was next to an engine room or something. My folks were one floor directly above me yet had very minor rocking. Everything was sub par and/or downright unacceptable for what we paid. My room was filthy, nothing worked consistently (TV stopped working - Bad Gateway), fridge never got cold, the Medallion App NEVER worked (constantly crashed or lose my info.), wifi was terribly slow, bed sheets dirty, etc. Very difficult to get anyone on the phone (room service, cleaning or registration desk), it would ring then go to VM!? Many of the service employees had extremely poor or indifferent attitudes/service, example: I orded the 5 for 4 beer package and it took forever for them to bring it to my room and when they did arrive, it was five warm beers laying on a tray, no bottle opener, ice or even a glass and the lady acted as though she was angry that she had to bring it to my room - stupid me still gave her a tip. There were several warning signs the cruise was going to bad. Firstly brother in law lost his sunglasses during embarking because the poorly trained "security" threw around his bags on the xray machince and were very rude about it when he asked for help to find his glasses, which he beleived may have been stuck inside the machine. They just wanted him to leave the area and basically ignored him. Sad thing is we we celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary but it was impossible to communicate with them because the app doesn't work, phones don't work and you can't use your cell phone. And to top it all off, the Stewards/help barely speak English. Nice guy but impossible to understand him and most of the staff that interacts with guests. All the American employees are in management and don't directly deal with travelers directly - you hear them on the PA but rarely see them. The drink situation is an absolute joke. Every morning I would have to march up to the 16th Deck and wait in line (because there are only two drink stations in the entire buffet area for 3,000+ curisers) to get water that tasted like it came out of a hose or cup of terrible tasting coffee. They make it extremely difficult because they would rather you pay for everything, even water. And all the food was average at best, pretty much what you would find at a $10 Vegas buffet. Hence I ate alot of salads and fruit. Also I'd be very careful in the casino and anytime staff is counting money, they are poorly trained, don't know the games like you'd find from dealers in Vegas and frequently screw up the deal, count or don't know the rules - I witnessed several instances where cruisers litterally were screaming at the dealers for costing them money. Also the machines are set up so its a real pain to cash out, so you end up playing until you lose. It was ugly, so I didn't gamble much. The highlight of the trip was of course getting OFF the SHIP in CABO, which we really enjoyed. Next time we pay half the cost to fly down and stay at an all inclusive resort for a week, which are much, much nicer than the dirty ship. List goes on, but I am done and glad it's over. Read Less

I’m not even sure where to begin with this review as I’ve never felt compelled to leave such negative feedback about a cruise, let alone whilst I’m still on the ship! A bit about me first, I’m 31 and considered ‘quite young’ to be passionate about cruising however this most recent cruise (which I am still currently onboard) Majestic Princess is my 9th cruise in all, 4th on Princess. Other lines I’ve enjoyed time with have included Cunard, Holland America & Royal Caribbean. I consider myself a ship enthusiast, I love the history of passenger shipping hence what draws me to modern day cruises. I’ve always been such a strong advocate of cruising and have become known in my circle as ‘the cruise guy’, so I’m often helping friends book their first cruises after telling them of my fantastic experiences. We decided to book Majestic Princess departing Sydney, February 4th for an 8 day trip around Tasmania. We also asked my parents to join us onboard for the trip which they agreed. This is their second cruise, they first cruised 4 years ago on the Golden Princess and absolutely loved it. I chose Majestic because of how new it is and it looks great in Princesses marketing campaigns. Unfortunately that’s about the only positives I have to say. I truly hate to sound like one of those people who just complain about everything but like I said, I’ve never felt this way about any cruise before as I love cruising. I just feel that based on this experience, Princess have completely turned me off any future cruises with them and certainly any ever again on Majestic, maybe even any ship in the Carnival Corp Fleet?. I’m a realist, I know the world isn’t perfect and I’m a very understanding and polite person. To be honest, even on past cruises when there have been negatives, I’ve completely brushed them under the rug due to my passion for ships, I’ve made excuses for cruise lines but I’m not doing that this time. It’s time to point out the flaws so that others can be truly informed about the current state of Princess Cruises. Embarkation: The quickest embarking process I’ve ever experienced which was great and certainly helped fuel the excitement of our trip! We were onboard within 10 minutes of arriving to the terminal. They lost my mums suitcase which she got quite worried about, being so new to cruising this is understandable. I tried to calm the situation by telling her it will turn up soon and to wait however eventually she had to go down to the guest services desk and ask after it. To which she then had to find it herself out of a pile of ‘missing bags’. She was also told by a staff member ‘why are you worrying it’s not a big deal.’ When she was worried about it. My fathers brand new suitcase also arrived to the room with one of the wheels snapped off almost fully. He then stayed up till 3am the first night trying to repair it himself using my mums eyebrow tweezers as a screw driver in their mini suite. Stateroom: Mini suite A226. I’ve only ever travelled in suites or ‘mini/junior suites’ so the room was as expected however, compared to Golden Princess and other ships I’ve sailed, Majestic Princess mini suites are not the greatest. Certainly the smallest balcony I’ve ever had, seriously it’s about 1m deep? The layout is extremely similar to the Grand Class ships but slightly updated. I prefer the older version. The bathrooms are also small for a suite and really should have been addressed when designing this new class of ship. The toilet in the suite was acting a bit strange from when we boarded. It often wouldn’t flush properly or would take a minute after pushing the button to then flush. Eventually it stopped working completely mid cruise and had to be fixed. The bed is not comfortable at all. I read so many reviews saying how good the beds are, really!? My plush mattress at home is way more comfortable. The ship: Yes she’s a pretty ship, the decor and the colour scheme inside is very contemporary and nice. Layout is shocking, I absolutely cannot stand everything being focussed around the Piazza area. For such a grand, lovely space, I was sick of it by day two. Deck areas are nice with lots of couches and lounges and the pools and spas all great however, the Enclave area is not fully functional, one of the saunas doesn’t work and not all the jets in the pool are working. Not something I would normally complain about, however when are these cruise lines going to question whether it is right to charge passengers full price to use these facilities that are not fully operational or as promised? That’s wrong. I’ll also note that the hull is very rusty and dirty and is in need of painting. Obviously this is hard on a ship and I get it takes time etc but have some pride in the ships external appearance. It says a lot about the standards onboard. Staff/service: This is the major let down of this ship, I can honestly say I’ve never experienced such an uninspiring, careless, unhappy mob of workers on a ship, the attitude of the staff have been the biggest let down. This ship has such a strange vibe, it just doesn’t feel right onboard. None of the staff are warm & friendly. Everyone seems pained to be working onboard and every simple request eg; ‘Hello, how are you today? Can I please buy a drink..?’ You are made to feel like you have bothered them. Even if they are completely not doing anything or serving anyone else at all. To be honest, I was confused as to whether the staff were all just on holiday because they all seem to just loiter around talking to each other and ignoring passengers. Restaurant staff, unprofessional and rude with no idea about the food or drinks or basic manners such as apologising when your meal arrives after everyone else at the table has finished eating there’s, this included the waiters in the Chops Grill paid restaurant who basically were too busy to even ensure we had a pleasant experience. We felt bad for even being there. Bar staff all shocking and no customer service skills at all. Not even general politeness such as ‘Hello, how are you?’ or recognition of you after constantly seeing the same bar person day after day. To be honest I’ve spent more time saying hello and asking how staff are than any of them have with me. Spa staff (after paying $150 to attended the Enclave daily) never even look up from the desk when we arrive to go in, it’s actually become quite amusing now as I’m being extra super friendly above what I normally am just to see if it makes them change their tune, no luck. They can barely look at us or say more than a grunt. Don’t expect to be served on deck either if you are in one of the deck spas. We jumped in one to watch the daily movie on the outdoor screen at night, we never got asked once whether we wanted a drink and when I flagged down two girls standing near by, they gave me the most horrible look as if I have bothered them. Do these staff even want to make any money for Princess anymore!? It seems when you want a drink no one cares, when you’re willing spend hundreds on drinks and have a good night/day, no one cares. The Captain & cruise director, who? Never seen them or felt engaged by either, unlike other ships where you often see them out and about ensuring passengers are enjoying themselves. In fact, all ‘management’ are hidden, good luck finding any of them. Room attendant is friendly enough when we pass him in the hall however, he’s cleaning skills are next to none. There are still items in the room left over from the previous guests such as an asthma puffer that was in the bathroom and is yet to be removed. Our used pool towels not removed or empty bottles. He also leaves the room in total darkness every night and just throws the chocolates on the bed and leaves them wherever they land. My parents have a different steward and apparently she is lovely though and does a great job. The culture with the staff on this ship is awful, I work in Customer Service myself so I’m very aware of the lack of standards which I can assure you start at the top and work their way down through the staff. The way the staff even carry themselves and stand shows the lack of care factor. I’m shocked managers don’t also see this but maybe they do and this is apparently acceptable? Entertainment/atmosphere: Another Major let down. Where is the atmosphere!? I’ve never been on such a dull cruise.. When we left Sydney harbour at 6:45 on a beautiful Australian summers evening the band played for 15 minutes before they were removed and the 7 o’clock outdoor movie began which completely cleared the deck. What a weird thing to do on the first evening of the cruise when passengers expect a sail away party. Being the first night of the cruise it really set the tone for what was ahead. The band have not been up on deck since! No matter how lovely the weather is, speaking of weather, so far we have been blessed with beautiful smooth sailing and lovely days so I’m not sure why there is nothing happening on deck during the days/nights other than the movie which probably gets about 10 people per viewing. I think one movie at night would be fine and more attention should be paid to entertaining guests by the pool with music etc. Most entertainment takes place in the Piazza, which is so weird. The Piazza has specialty restaurants and bars off it so if you’re trying to enjoy a nice meal or a classy drink, you’ll have to put up with the noise coming from the Piazza. But don’t worry, everything pretty much stops at 10pm. Don’t expect to be doing anything after that time, it’s all basically shut down. There is no night club on this ship for night owls or people looking to have a good late night dance on their holidays.. Ridiculous. There are so many people wondering around after 10pm unsure of what to do but not wanting to go to bed, but you basically have no other option. Tonight we arrived in Hobart on a special public holiday where there were fireworks we could see from the ship. The captain mentioned this during the day and do you think the ship still did anything special for the event? Nope, once the fireworks were done they shut everything down outside and everyone went back in. They even turned the big TV off. 10pm. This entertainment director needs to be fired! Food: I personally feel the standards have dropped for Princess. Menus are uninspiring and dishes made with no love. Desserts especially have been a big let down as they’re so boring and almost child like food. Jelly in the main dining room as one of the four desert options, the others being bread and butter pudding, ice cream or a lime tart. We were also not impressed with Chops Grill having had such a wonderful meal on our last Princess cruise (Golden Princess 2 years ago) we were looking forward to a high end feed. The food was average to poor along with the service. To be honest, a waste of $35 per person. I was asked how I wanted my steak, medium/rare and I received well done. Really, at a steak restaurant?. Room service menu is also the exact same menu they’ve had for 10+ years.. Apparently they can’t think of anything else. Breakfast in room is only continental, so don’t expect any eggs/bacon in bed. I also wanted to note that if you’re watching the late night movie under the stars that starts usually around 9:30 the grill and noodle bars on deck shut at 10pm sharp (NO EXCEPTIONS) so if you feel like a snack half way through the movie, too bad. Why wouldn’t you keep them open to match the movie running time? Ps: don’t expect drink service during the movie and don’t do what we did and sit in a spa to watch the movie. They won’t come over to you, you will have to get out to order drinks. Tender service: This is actually what compelled me to review this cruise. This was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. We had one tendered port on this cruise and that was at Port Arthur. What an absolute joke that whole experience was. It started off fine, tenders leaving the ship from around 7:30am, we decided to leave for shore around 11am which we thought was good as we didn’t have to wait to get on a tender, we got on one almost straight away, then from that moment the issues became clear. After leaving the ships side, we were still on the tender 1hr later waiting to dock at the shore! The trip to the shore itself took around 5-10 minutes however they were only docking one tender at a time at a dock that was also shared by other boats doing tours of the harbour from Port Arthur. We sat there in the water for an hour waiting to dock, there were 4 tenders at once doing as we were. When it was our turn to dock, we noticed the horrifically long line of guests waiting to get back on tenders to come back to the ship! I actually took photos which I have included below, the line must have been 300m long, we couldn’t see the end of it. It looked like an evacuation but no, it was just Princesses complete mismanagement of the situation docking one tender at a time for 3500 guests. We decided to not even get off the tender and take it straight back to the ship due to how hectic the situation looked. My parents were on the tender in front of us and waited as long as we did to dock, it also took their driver 6 attempts to dock their tender correctly. In perfectly calm and flat waters. They then got off the tender (not knowing they could stay on) and jumped straight back in the line to get a tender back to the ship as they were worried they would have to wait so long. It took them 1hr of waiting in line to get back on a tender. So all in all they spent nearly 3hrs to tender to shore and come straight back. We literally missed Port Arthur, because of how horrible the experience was. There was no apologies or acknowledgement of what was happening. No mention from any of the staff that the wait times had blown out, no mention from the captain when we departed Port Arthur at the end of the day, nothing. Not even a free apology from anyone... What on earth has happened to Princess Cruises? I guess I will leave my review there. As I said, I know the world isn’t perfect and I know that some people will just find anything to complain about but I am not that person. I consider myself an advocate of the cruise industry however, after this experience I am even questioning now whether I will ever cruise again. I know my parents will not, after such a positive first cruise with Princess, their second cruise has been a nightmare and I doubt they will return. We confronted the duty manager today at the Guest Services desk about our concerns and experience in a very polite and collected way and would you believe, he agreed with all criticisms and was not only shocked by some but was well aware of most as he himself has seen it with his own eyes but he had also had a number of complaints on this cruise. I wanted to leave this review because although I love cruising, I understand how big business works and as customers, we are not doing ourselves any favours by not exposing the negative truths! I feel too many cruise passengers just stay silent and put up with poor cruises and I think that is wrong. These cruises are not cheap, you are promised the world and yet they can blatantly fail to deliver, take your money, kick you off at the end and take on the next lot.. It’s just not right. I feel Princess, perhaps all of Carnival Cruise Corp to be honest have a new attitude of ‘Oh well, near enough is good enough..’ well we as paying guests should not accept that. We are spending big money on these cruises and we also have a choice as to whether we even cruise or not and I feel like we are being taken advantage of. Perhaps the cruise industry has gotten too big for its boots and has lost touch with reality? Well if this is the acceptable standard, I can assure them that there won’t be a cruise industry in the not too distant future as the younger set, the cruises of tomorrow will take their money elsewhere when they wish to holiday. I’m sorry for such a long and negative review but I felt compelled to share as this particular cruise on Majestic Princess has completely ruined my faith in cruising. Only 3 more sleeps and we can get off and go home! What a horrible mindset to be in whilst you’re on holiday. I’m so disappointed by this cruise that I actually feel upset that we even came and I feel stupid for wasting our money. Read Less

We have cruised before but not with Princess. The sapphire was an absolute disgrace. Our stateroom cabin was growing mould!!! it was dirty and decapitated. Mould produces spores which research has shown pre disposes to health related respiratory problems. In view of the resent corona virus outbreak i would expect infection control and health and safety to be top priority. Shocking!!! The staff were apathetic and miserable. The ship was rusty and the swimming pool surrounds falling to bits. Infact on a few occasions some state rooms and corridors were flooded due to leaking swimming pools!! We docked at industrial working ports, miles away from anywhere and were charged $20 pp for a princess shuttle bus. Dining was poor, we felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff, who were not at all attentive. This cruise cost us a lot of hard earned money for our special birthdays. It was disgraceful. We are perusing this with our travel agents and have photographic evidence of this disgusting, delapitated ship. Read Less

From start to finish, this cruise was so much fun! Check-in was a breeze. Our luggage was delivered quickly. We went right to dinner. There was top-notch entertainment every night. If you were bored, it was your own fault. There is so much to do in this ship. The Crown Grill steakhouse was fabulous. The filet mignon, New York Strip steaks and Porterhouse steaks were the best we've ever had. All the food was delicious everywhere on the ship. The staff was super friendly and aimed to please. The entertainment was terrific! There are different shows every night of Broadway quality. The comedian was hysterical and gave a clean show. I had to buy his DVD. Lotus Spa and and it's Enclave were phenomenal. We had so much fun! I wish we could have stayed another week. They couldn't do enough to make us happy. I can't wait to cruise with Princess again. I understand - - many things are "out of control" when one engages a large cruise. experience On this one for example, a passenger fell sick, the ship aborted a"port of call," and our disembarkment was delayed by over nine hours. This meant, of course, that over three thousand people missed their planes, hotels and other vacation plans. The staff - mostly Filipinos, Ukrainians and Russians - worked so hard to make this difficult time easier. However, the company offered us nothing. The experience was ripe for customer service; a coupon for a future cruise, an afternoon of "free beverages" - - heck, even a trinket or a gift of sorts would have been appreciated. Instead - and for some odd reason, the company decided to shut down the pools and ban us from some decks. Throughout this entire experience, we weren't offered so much as a complimentary glass of wine. The company gave us "free internet" - and waived our phone charges or one day. This, I guess, was done to make it easier for us to find flights home. It was a nice gesture, but not enough considering the severe inconvenience. Another terrible story - - I fell during an excursion, and tried to secure an "ice pack" for my swollen leg. No one would comply. The medical staff told me to call the kitchen. Room service sent me to the front desk. In the end, I had to put together my own ice bag. . using a plastic bag from the front desk, a bucket of ice (for which I was charged!) for the ice. I kid you not. Nope. Not a good experience. Hard working, desperate and eager staff. Sad, to see them trying so hard - - working or a multi-billion dollar corporation without a soul. Never, never get my business - ever again. Read Less

After several enjoyable Cruises with Carnival we chose to go with Princess Cruises from Sydney 13nights to New Zealand, we were told Carnival was a 3 star cruise line and Princess was a 4 star cruise. When we phoned Princess we told them of our dietary requirements and were told that we would be well catered for and there would be no problems with those requirements. Nothing could have been further from the truth. This Cruise cost us over $6,000.00 and it is the first time that I have felt totally ripped off. We boarded the ship without any problems and our luggage was waiting outside our room. From that point forward things went down hill very quickly. The ship was neglected, rust ran down walls , furnishings were old and worn, Staff very rarely smiled and very few spoke to you, some were just down right rude. Entertainment was Art Sales, Jewellery Sales, photo sales, merchandise sales, Beer pong, Trivia and Bingo (which cost AU $39.00 for 5 games) Nightly Entertainment on the whole was good, most of the shows we enjoyed. Drinks are overpriced as a 18% fee has been added to cover gratuities. A donation appeared on our accounts when we went to the front desk to say we had not authorised it, we were informed that it was non compulsory, we asked that it be removed and not to add any further items that we had no knowledge of or had not approved. It was not the donation if we had been asked we would have happily donated more it was the principal of them adding it to our account without notifying us. The dinning room is a joke and the food was diabolical we went there once and did not return, we ate at the Bistro, this food was not good but was our only option with our dietary requirements. . They can't even give you a whole apple or banana these fruits were sliced up into bowls of water. I have eaten better food at the Food Court of our shopping Mall. This was not just us loads of people were complaining and it was a common sight to see people in formal clothes in the Bistro because they couldn't tolerate the meal they were served in the Dinning room. When leaving the ship via Tenders it could take up to 3hours to get off the ship, so frustrating sitting in the Theatre for 3hours. Advertised activities like a wine tasting that was listed on their Medallion App. they knew nothing about and the room full of people that showed up were sent away. Pool parties (with an empty pool) were the band played for 40min and didn't come back. This ship holds 3,000 people and the areas set aside as gathering places like the Piaza are a joke, they were over acrowded, queues to everything we spent a lot of time in our room reading. This cruise felt like a floating Nursing home, complete with sloppy food. Our cabin was comfortable and clean but our veranda was dirty and very rarely if at all wiped down. Shore excursions booked through the ship were good but once again very overpriced. I am not normally the person that writes negative reviews but I felt compelled to warn other people like my husband and myself, if you have saved for a nice trip think again before you travel with Princess Cruises, my husband and I will never sail with them again. Was hesitant about booking on Ruby Princess based on previous reviews. Yes, the ship is showing signs of wear in some places but is extremely well maintained. Food was very good in restaurants, and other free options such as pizza and burgers if the buffet became repetitive. Our balcony cabin on deck 14 was clean and the bed extremely comfortable. Shower a bit on small side though. The staff were one of the nicest we have encountered, We missed Akaroa and Milford, Doubtful, and Dusky Sounds due to poor weather conditions. Our highlight was Napier which is a fascinating Town and the highlight of our trip. Entertainment on the whole was good to excellent, and the Cruise Directors were an energetic lot who went out of their way to provide varied entertainment and always had a public profile. Embarkation with the new Medallion Class was extremely quick and efficient as was disembarkation. Loved the way your cabin door knew you were coming and door unlocked itself, making it so much easier than using the previous cards. Purchased the quick Wifi for $75, it was terrific, and never dropped out. Only gripe was a lot of their featured wines on lunch and dinner menus were not available...this happened last year also on Majestic Princess. I suggest they stop trying to pair these so called special wines with the menus and just stick to main wine list. We would happily sail again on Ruby. Handled the rough seas in South Island very well. Did notice a lot of coughs and colds towards end of Cruise, and think their hand sanitizers should have a more public profile and be reinforced at the Buffet....no good having someone standing there and people just going to buffet without using them. I planned my Australia and New Zealand vacation with Princess Cruises so I could see the most I could within the 24 Days I had down-under. I did this even though Princess Cruises does not have a single supplement so I paid suite passage for two people. Princess Cruises was the only cruise line that offered the land tour. Since this was my first trip to the region I wanted to see as much of Australia and New Zealand as I could. The vacation started with a tour that took me from Sydney to Uluru then to Carins and back to Sydney before boarding the Princess Cruise ship the Ruby Princess for a 12 day cruise around New Zealand. I planned to complete my trip with two days in Sydney after the cruise. Mistake number one was thinking Princess Cruises would delivery on their commitments and provide assistance and keep me informed. Princess Cruises did however meet their cruise contract terms. However, this does not mean they were at all worried about me enjoying my vacation. I do want to say the Uluru and Cairns tour operated by a local Australian tour company was just wonderful. This might have set my expectations for the cruise. The three hotels we stayed in during the land tour was great the Hyatt Regency is in Darling Harbor and a short walking distance to the Opera House and Botanical Gardens. Just plan plenty of time if you walk (30 minutes each way) however it is easy to get around Sydney. The Airport Transfers contacted by this tour operator were handled very well with no issues. The Desert Garden Hotel in Uluru is the place to stay when traveling there. The two days were will planned the highlight was the aboriginal demonstration and program put on by a local group the Red Spaces Cultural Tours (I will do a separate review of this fantastic program). After the visit and this program, you leave Uluru with a greater appreciation of the Australian aboriginal people and importance the mountain was to their life in the outback. Off to Cairns, the Great Barrier Reef and Kuranda Rain Forest. While the tour provided a great experience in Cairns for the short two days we were there, you will want to plan more time. The rain forest has many trails you can explore and we just did not have the time. The land tour ended with a quick overview of Sydney and stop at Bondi Beach. I will do a separate review of the tour as this rating is not a reflection of that experience. This is where a good vacation experience ended and dealing with rude and unresponsive cruise ship staff begin. The written instructions/directions that are provided mean nothing it seems the Ruby Princess is an exception as explained to me by a Guess Services staff member assigned to address my concerns. My first encounter with a staff member at the coffee set the tone of the trip. I asked him if he could fill a souvenir cup I was provided for having the beverage package. The staff member stated yes took the cup and proceed to make the coffee. When finished instead of pouring the coffee from the paper cup into the souvenir cup he hands me both cups and states “pour it into the cup yourself and next time don't ask for coffee to be put into your cup.” By the way if you do purchase a beverage package keep a close eye on you cabin bill. Myself and a number of other passengers found improper drink charges on their accounts. Having to correct these erroneous charges takes time and Princess Cruises could correct the problem by flagging these and having the Guess Services staff research and correct them without passengers waiting in line during their vacation to identify the error. I will say a few of the staff like the bartenders at the Good Spirts worked to enjoy guess had an enjoyable experience. This was however the exception. Maybe these bartenders can provide some training to the others on how to provide a positive guess experience. The suite book stated a suite guess should contact Guess Services to make reservations in the specialty restaurants. After trying to reach Guess Services by telephone three times with no answer and the inability to leave a message, I contacted the specialty dinning room reservations by telephone and was told there was nothing available. After this and the inability to contact my room steward via the telephone I sent an email to my travel agent that forwarded it to Princess Cruises. This is when Guess Services first contacted me. Princess might want to ensue they can cover the telephone service and not have it hang up on passenger due to no response. I was told the Ruby Princess did not have a suite concierge and the reason suite guess were told to contact specialty dinning room reservations directly. Also throughout the ship there were signs that directed guess to go to deck 16 to make reservations for the Curtis Stone specialty dinning experience. I went there twice and there was no one available to make a reservation. Appears that Princess Cruises has substituted staff and customer service for the medallion program and experience. I also found that no one seemed to want to take ownership of your issue/concern or problem. I was often referred to several different people or desk until I stop them. I heard the same issue from many other passengers as well. My experience continued to deteriorate when Princess cancelled my disembark excursion they did not notify me and when I discovered it I was passed between Guess Services and Excursions Desk with little concern about my vacation time in Sydney. My Hotel Princess had reserved for me was less than two blocks from where the ship docked yet after they cancelled my excursion, they were going to have me wait on the ship until 09:45 to take a bus to the hotel. This would have wasted half of day of two days I had left in Sydney. I was able to get permission to leave the ship with my own transfer to the Hotel. This allowed me to get to the Hotel check my bags and book with the Hotel concierge the same excursion Princess cancelled. This was consistent with the previous assistance and responses Princess staff members. By the way Princess did not bother to try to provide me information on my transfer to the airport in two days. I will cover that next. So I successful saved the day in Sydney with little effort but no assistance or recommendations from the Princess staff. The Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney that I will review separately was fantastic. A $5.00 Australia Dollar Uber ride got me to the Hotel around 07:00 AM. The Bellmen were very helpful checked my luggage and I checked-in and they were going to text me when the room was ready. The concierge was great they booked me on a 11 hour Blue Mountain and Zoological Park Tour that left 30 minutes after the booking from the Hotel. Great day even with the heavy rains. When I got back to the Hotel my room was ready and my luggage was already in the room. One thing missing was there no information from Princess on my airport transfer. Since I had another day I figured it might be left with the front desk or concierge the next day or Princess would have a hotel representative present for part of the day. When I checked early in the morning the front desk clerk and concierge mentioned that there would be a Princess cruise ship representative in the hotel the next day at 0800 AM. Since my flight did not leave until 2:00PM I felt comfortable waiting to get the transfer information the next day. The next day after breakfast I located two cruise representatives in the hotel but neither indicated they were there specifically for although one indicated she support Princess passengers. When I asked about the time for the airport transfer, she stated to be at the pickup location at 0930 AM. I proceeded with my morning and checked out at around 0900 AM. Up at the pickup point at 09:15 AM and shortly afterward the representative came out and stated you might want to come back inside and sit for a while. She stated she called Princess and the pickup was going to be at 10:30 AM. At this point I told her to cancel the transfer and I would take an Uber. Princess never bothered to contact me or reimburse me for the transfers they did not accomplish. This was a 18 Day Cruise Tour that was to have four sea days. While Princess cannot control the weather, they can plan for possible alternate ports. Two of the itinerary stops could not be docked or transited due to weather and Princess just add sea days rather than trying to find another destination. While I don't want to speak for other passengers many other experienced cruisers also expressed their disappointment with the cruise and staff and stated they may take a break. Princess might want to do a critical look at the practices and polices on this cruise. I would not recommend this for a first-time cruiser. There appeared to no options when there is a weather-related issue to adjust the New Zealand itinerary where other cruises, I have always found that the cruise has planned alternative. I you want to see New Zealand for the first time don’t take a cruise if you have not cruised before. Also consider some alternate land options. I will be going back to New Zealand to see what it is really like and what I could not see with Princess. Read Less

We wanted to get out of the cold so we booked the Crown Princess to the Caribbean. Our first sign that things weren't going well was that no one could sign onto the Medallion.net to get the internet and free wi-fi that was advertised. After an hour and a half wait and one cruise member helping, we finally got it. Before I go any further, let me say this was our 24th cruise. Our room had NO ventilation. It took until the evening of the next day to get service, even though our wonderful cabin steward, Weny, called right away. Weny, by the way, was the best thing about our cruise. A second sign we were in trouble was that they very insistently wanted us to share a table. Princess offers Anytime dining, and you are not supposed to have to share tables. Well, the whole thing is a joke. We were seated at a long upholstered table and our table had about 12 inches between each of the other tables. We were "sharing" anyway... no matter what they advertise. Then, came the food! I watched as several people sent back there food. A woman sitting next to us, asked what she was served and she was told it was what she ordered. She shook her head, tasted it, and said "no it is not, take it back." This went on through the whole cruise. My husband ordered the beef wellington one night a got a piece of beef 3 x 2 inches long. They had 2 choices for desserts; beside ice cream, and a sugar free one. Everything tasted the same. If you didn't go to dinner at 5 pm and wanted to sit by yourself, you couldn't get a table. Our last night, we went down at 5:30, the receptionist at the dining room told us that "It could be half hour, whole hour, or more" with a very snide look on her face. We went somewhere else to eat. She called us at 7 pm. to say our table was ready. Nothing that Princess advertises comes to fruition. I realize that many of the cruise employees don't speak fluent English but every cruise we have been on they have at least been able to understand what we were asking. On 4 different occasions I asked specific questions about specific things going on during the cruise. Each time I got the wrong answer. How do I know, because I wound up going to Guest Services to get the "correct" answer. One morning we were taking our breakfast outside. The automatic door closed on my husband as he was walking through it causing his hot coffee and breakfast to spill all over him. A staff member yelled at him and said he had to be more careful. My husband responded with, " I thought these were automatic doors", "No, no, they are not" said the staff member. To which my husband said the same thing, and, again, they employee said "they are not automatic doors." I finally got up and pointed to what was printed on the doors, themselves which was Automatic Doors. I told him what it said and he turned and walked away. Every other night, they included a sheet in our dinner menu to get us to order something from a restaurant you had to pay for. Shore excursions....This was the most disorganized set up I have every seen. You were supposed to "show up" on the pier for your individual excursion. Except, everyone else did too. You had to walk through the crowd trying to find out where your line was. It was funny because everywhere you went; sitting areas, outside elevators...speaking of elevators, half of them didn't work. People were complaining about the same things I am writing about now. Everyone kept saying, "I'm so glad you said something because I thought it was just me." The best places to eat were the Salty Dog and the Pizza by the pool. The piazza had some nice salads and paninis but there was hardly anything between the bread. Another problem was the PA system. You could never hear what they were saying....ever! Now, for the good parts: Weny, our cabin steward was great. And we made sure he knew we appreciated him. The first night's show was fabulous. The Princess singers, dancers, and orchestra were great. They did a Motown show that was super. And my hat's off to Sergi...he was great entertainer. This was our 4th Princess cruise. i took this cruise because i always wanted to go to the southern caribbean. i have cruised princess many times however this ship was the worst. the buffet food was horrible , the ship is rusting, the furniture is scratched and broken. i would never recommend this ship to anyone and wish i know the condition before i booked it. the islands are beautiful, the weather was great. Oh i forgot to tell you the entertainment was the worst i have seen on any princess cruises and the theater was old, seats smelled, and room smelled. we go on princess because the entertainment is always out of this world but not on this ship. the cabin was good, beds new and great the best pillows. i would go to the southern caribbean again but not on the Crown Princess. Wait until the Sky Princess does the southern again . have great cruises Read Less

Got invited to uncle's 75th birthday. Food was hit and miss. Buffet was repetitious. Recycling most of the food. I know because I'm a cook. Service was excellent by hardworking maybe underpaid crews. Wifi was too expensive, so was pop, alcohol, more like highway robbery. Coffee and teas were free at breakfast time, other times you have to pay. On our beach excursions we were served hotdogs and hamburgers and boiled ribs slathered with store bought sauce! We expected at least grilled fish and fresh fruit but instead garbage food. Not what we paid for. Dining was okey, great service. Cabin was a bit outdated, entertainment was good, staffs were good but no one was there to help us get to our room on our first day and tell us which restaurants are free. Feels like you have to pay for everything. After our cruise we were emailed free stuffs like free wifi, gratuity, pop, alcohol and so on on our next cruise, what the hell? Why didn't they offer us on our cruise? We spent a lot of money on plane tickets and hotel and food .. all we got is $25 on board credit! Not enough. We came to this cruise expecting class, but instead overpriced and overhyped. I wouldn't recommend this ship to anyone. All inclusive is better. What a total waste of money!!!! Read Less

Hi, I choose this cruise as I wanted to go to Kangaroo Island and Phillip Island to see the Fairy Penguins, had to fly from Queensland for the cruise. First thing that went wrong was that I was told several times on the phone that I could buy a drink package when I got on the cruise, how wrong was that, after being told to go to 3 bars and the service desk finally was told NO they don’t do drink packages on cruises under 7 days. Second thing was that we had to go back to the island in the afternoon to catch out tour to see the Penguins, after checking twice through the day and had been told yes there was a water shuttle at 6 o’clock for us to catch, be there at 5.45 pm, only to get there and be told NO they have cancelled it and there would be no more shuttles going over. As for the entertainment we’ll dont get me started, it was terrible. The food was terrible same old food every night and it was always cold. The fruit was lovely. Our room was lovely, we had a balcony on the 12th floor. I have been on several cruises and this one was the worst, a big let down as I had booked 10 months in advanced and was looking forward to it. I really enjoyed NCL JEWEL, entertainment was fantastic. I travelled with 4 other people and they travelled further then me and fell the same way, very DISAPPOINTED. Read Less

I chose the cruise for the port of calls and being a new Ship. What I found was this cruise is for the over 70's and disabled .Many of the crew members were enjoying guest services.the older people were hogging all the facilities and were a pain to walk past or get a seat anywhere. Food and entertainment is repetitive and boring, everytime I went to eat I felt like being in a hospital. The shuttle service to shore is packed before it leaves the ship and is extremely hot. On port days staff have no idea where people should go and NOT go. staff were overworked and seemed not to care. no decent music or shows to mention, only violin and piano everynight. There is DJ who is as boring as the music she plays. There is live band which makes a joke of any song they play. Female staff are dressed up to bring some glamour. Smoking faciltities are aweful. I would not recommend this ship to anyone under 50. Only highlight was the port of calls and the staff in the bars and children and youth program. Read Less

We are in our late 40's and we are a very active couple. Sitting around and watching movies is not our forte'. The entertainment on this cruise was horrible. When you have 8 days of "Sea Days" and the most exciting thing for that day is going to a lecture about arthritis, something is wrong with that cruise line! I would not recommend Princess for our age group. We were so ready to get off this cruise and get home to our kids. The ship is showing her age, the staff is just there... nothing outstanding, and the choices for entertainment were not well thought out. There were not enough seats for the activities that were worth going to and you literally had to get there an hour before it started to even get a seat. We don't go for the food, but it was decent. The ship is clean, the staff is there to do their job - and that was about it, and the food was edible. Nothing fancy and not worth the money that we paid. Read Less
