I chose this cruise because it was one of the last sailings for the year and I was hoping to get a chance to see the Northern Lights. This was our primary reason for choosing Princess as they ran Alaskan cruises later than RC or Carnival. In fact, this was the last Alaska sailing for this boat this year. Unfortunately, although some other ships were able to see the lights the night before, we were ...
A few quick hits (a few misses) from our week on the Ruby --
Background -- 40s - our 8th cruise on Princess, first time to Alaska and travelling with another couple.
Embarkation -- Arrived in Seattle the morning of departure so headed on over to the port arriving around 11:15. Something different in Seattle, compared to Port Everglades, is that porters for luggage are nearly non-existent ...
We took our grandson on this cruise. We had the best time with the lovely weather,no rain for 7 days. Our grandson will have happy memories for a life time. Mihaill in the dining room greeted us every evening with a big smile. Mihaill was also in the Horizon Court. The dining room staff were great, every place we ate they treated us like Royalty. A special thank you to Mihaille. Hope to see you ...
There was a delay with immigration boarding, but overall the arrival and departure was fine. We stayed on the Deck 10 cabin 317 on arrival we noticed a horrible smell in the cabin musty a bit like grease from kitchens poor ventilation u could smell it from outside our cabin the rest of the corridor was fine. We talked to the steward immediately who was very nice and he said he would report it, he ...
Had taken another Princess cruise a few years back..it was great...but this particular ship is OLD. Carpet heavily stained. Large rust spots on the balcony. I would never call it a beautiful ship. The cabin steward was superb. The other staff members were very polite. The food looked good. I would give it a B on taste. The entertainment was FAIR.
I would not travel on the Ruby Princess ...
We had not sailed on Princess for 5 years, after a very disappointing cruise on Emerald Princess in 2012 (affected by Hurricane Sandy). So I wasn't expecting too much except a good itinerary, especially in the food area, where I found on my last couple of Princess Cruises that the quality and especially taste of food had really declined compared to some other cruise lines.
We were keenly aware ...
We chose to get started on our bucket list with this trip. Partner and myself are a couple in our mid-30s, no children. We are local San Franciscans, so the round-trip option out of SF was our major deciding factor in choosing this cruise vs. other departures from Seattle or Vancouver.
Embarkation was a breeze. Quick Lyft ride to Pier 27, we actually walked onto the ship with all our luggage ...
It was O.K.,
Crowded, was under pressure all the time to buy, buy and buy at the ships stores.
Towards the end of the cruise I was getting numb ..... to buy buy buy ...
The ships app needs work to function correctly.
Meals good, waiters were great, Room Stewarts were very good and bartenders need help on making a good drink.
Entertainment was O.K.
Tipping should be handled by ...
We picked this cruise to see Alaska on a ship departing out of San Francisco. This is a great option for Bay Area residents eliminating the hassle and cost of flying to the port. We arrived at Pier 27 around 1030 and made our way through the departing passengers at the curb to a quick security screening and check-in process. As suite passengers, we were able to wait in the small priority boarding ...
Wanted to celebrate our day in a special way. We were, however, a little disappointed that we did not receive the recognition we were promised. Our travel Agent assured us that we would probably receive something special. I loved everything else, food, the atmosphere people we met can't really say anything negative. The shows were great, staff amazing, Embarkation and disembarkation went very ...
