We chose Coral princess to take us around Alaska's inner passage because friends recommended it. It is a smaller ship which I think is perfect for Alaska. Our service was good. The way the food is now a days, I make sure we go to a specialty restaurant for really good food. The coupon book you receive first day has a BOGO deal that will save you $25, but must be booked that day. Be sure to book Sabatinis at least twice and right away! We could only get in once because I waited. We purchased a Balcony dinner served in our room for $100 for the two of us. It was fantastic and I highly recommend it. It includes a cocktail, apps, bread, champagne, flower arrangement, photo, white glove service, choice of filet and/or lobster, fab salad, crabcake encroute and 2 desserts! Best steak and lobster I ever had! I am not one for shows, so I didn't attend any. Hub went twice to hear soprano. We watched movies in room. We had a balcony which was a splurge. If your don't get one ,there are plenty of places to see 360 degrees on top deck. Read Less

I had higher expectations because Princess high end reputation. I booked because itinerary and destination ports. I have 10+ cruise experience with Carnival and Norwegian. This is my First time with Princess and I’m very disappointed. Very pour entertainment performance quality, small food portions, lack of variety or options at Lido food court and restaurant dinners, ship outdated revamp need, bad coffee including the bistro, no blankets to see the outside movies, very old towels at pools and room, rest of the staff looks very exhausted because it was almost the end of the season, no engaged, excellent room cleaning, specialty restaurant (Baju) was good and learnt experience, excursion by Princess are ok but seems pricey, this is cater for senior citizens, gambler or sinkers, not to much entertainment during the day or night, not good value for what I paid. Not planning to book Princess Cruises because this experience. Read Less

After years of hearing from friends that an Alaskan cruise is THE cruise of a lifetime, we bit the bullet and pushed it to the top of our bucket list. Having cruised Princess once before (this would be our 25th cruise though only second on Princess), we had some expectations of quality of service and condition of equipment. Considering the Island Princess is one of it's oldest ships, for the most part, it met our expectations. Had we done the cruise only portion, would have rated this only "Good". However coupled with the add on land portion, the trip truly was a very good trip, nearing great. The land portion was excellent in almost all respects. Here's our impressions and tips. Embarkation: Best ever. Vancouver has it nailed. Stayed prior night near Canada Place and walked over to drop bags off at noon and just about walked on to the ship. Longest line was U.S. Customs but that went smoothly. Dining: Late dining in the Provence Dining Room. Food was ok, not great but then again, I'm not a gourmand so no complaints. Head waiter (Apollo) was attentive though at times a bit stretched. Great stablemates and conversation. Never felt rushed. Breakfast and Lunch always in Horizon for the buffet. Finding a place to sit can be a challenge during peak times. Selection was a bit limited (would have loved a real pasta bar). Cookies were overbaked. But we didn't starve. Pizza was pretty good. Burgers were not. Liked that someone was stationed at entrance to get people to wash their hands (unfortunately when they weren't around passengers wouldn't do it). Entertainment: Went to all but the last show. The dancers were very good. The singers were not. Magician (Trigg) was really good and did two shows. The comedian (also two shows) was average and second show was similar to the first, material just tweaked a bit. Guest Soprano was very good and just highlighted how much better her voice was than the regular singers. Tried to go to some of the onboard lectures but as space is limited on this ship for large audiences, if you don't get there well in advance you might as well skip it and grab another piece of pizza. Service: room attendant was efficient. Didn't see him much but when requested to leave extra towels each cleaning, he did. Though for some reason, never left any ice (no problem as I brought ice back from the buffet each morning). Room service was very good, timely and orders were always correct. Ports: Icy Strait Point (Hoonah): nothing there. Nice walk to Hoonah and back. That's about it. Juneau: Walked to chairlift and went up the mountain (on our own, no excursion). Great views, nice walking paths up top, pretty good shops. Well worth it. Then took city bus ($2 each from bus station) to Mendenhal (well as close as you can get on the city bus which is about 1.5 miles from entrance - easy flat walk on a paved path). Walk to the falls (another mile to/from) for best views. Note: no food available in park so plan accordingly. Bring water. Lunch at Red Dog Saloon - crowded of course, food was ok, entertainer was pretty profane. Skagway: best stop. Ship excursion to White Pass via railroad. Easy walk to train, nice scenic ride. Good commentary along the way. Dropped off in town, strolled around, grabbed a fantastic cinnamon roll (Sweet Tooth Cafe) and visit the NPS building and watch their show. A fun town to just stroll around and do a bit of souvenir shopping. Glacier Bay: TIP: best view is on Port side (at least it feels like the ship stayed on the port side the longest). Saw a few small calving. Very nice but the best glacier was just to come... College Fjord: Wow, so many glaciers (port side is the best). Spent a long time just in front of the largest. Peaceful and what Alaska is all about. Whittier: nothing there but hop off and on to the train (or busses). TIPs: Want better chance of seeing wildlife (whales and things): starboard on the northbound route. Better for glaciers: Port Best side on White Pass Train: Left side. If doing Denali Land portion and the Kantishna Experience excursion: sit on driver side of the bus. Read Less

We boarded the Island Princess in Vancouver. The Vancouver port is beautiful, but the embarkation process is spread out throughout the terminal. You went from one end to another end and back which didn't seem very efficient. It was very organized just not efficient. In my opinion, the ship itself was the perfect size for an Alaska cruise, small and intimate. We had an aft balcony suite and I can't say enough about how wonderful it was. We could sit on the balcony comfortably most of the time, because the wind was blocked. Even in Glacier Bay we did not need heavy coats to enjoy the balcony. We had Club Class anytime dining. The food was very good in the dining room and our wait staff were excellent. The buffet was ok, but it was hard finding a table and the variety was limited. The pizza on board was very good, great crust! We ate at the Bayou Cafe but not at Sabatini's. The Bayou food was good. I felt the entertainment could be improved upon. I wish there was a production show every night and that the comedy shows had there own theater. There could have been more activities during the day also, but you come to Alaska to see the sights, not for the ship activities. Our service throughout the ship was great. Everyone was attentive and helpful. Our room steward was wonderful. Our excursions were whale watching in Icy Strait Point, dog sled camp in Juneau, and White Pass Train in Skagway. They were all booked through Princess and were all great. Each of them was only part of the day, so we had plenty of time to walk around the ports also. I have to say my favorite was probably the dog sled camp. It was informative and lots of fun. Disembarkation was a breeze! It was so organized and smooth. Kudos to Princess for making it so stress free, especially when you don't want to leave! Read Less

Without the outstanding service of the Bar, Michelangelo wait staff and room service I would have rated this cruise as poor. I never saw the captain walking around the ship. Most officers never said a word. One of the chef's in the 15th floor buffet was rude and harse on one occasion. My wife and I came of the ship because people with the flu were not restricted to their state rooms. Many of people on board walked off with the flu. I'm not sure why Princess stayed in Dublin for two days knowing all too well that stores only open between 11am and noon. We had it be bck onboard for 3pm. A waste of a day. I'm really not sure why other than legally we stopped at all in Lahavre because ALL the stores are closed on Monday's !!!!!!! A real of time and money. People taking the excurion to Paris did not stop at the Louvre. The bus ride was 3hrs each way. This was $ 276 CDN. Comments provided by friends we met on the cruise. ANY excursion Princess provided was offered by other tour operators for at least half the cost as Princess. Excursion prices are rediculously high. My recommendation is to do your home work. Also, go to the front desk and have your gratuities removed from your bill and provide the staff that were outstanding. Many staff members deserved a dollar from the overall pot. Read Less

This is a 8th cruise with Princess and our second time on the Regal Princess. We fully enjoyed all the cities in the Baltic region we went to and concentrated mainly of the visiting and not time on the ship. The staff on the ship made you feel comfortable and were always polite and made sure all your needs were met. We only went to a few shows on the ship and found them OK but not of high caliber. We found that the cities always had something for us to see and explore. We did not really use the cruise ship excursion as they were very expensive and using Rick Steves guide for the ports allowed us to go into town and see most of the sites as most ports were walkable, We did use the cruise excursion to get to town for Sweden as the ship docks about an hour away for Stockholm and the hop on/ hop off bus did not seem very convenient and we had on board credits to use. Princess also tries to scare you into using them for St. Petersburg as you need to be on an escorted excursion or you will need to have a visa for there. There are numerous other local companies that can arrange the same thing. After some research on Cruise Critic and Trip Advisor we decided used TJ Travel for a 2 day excursion at half the price and I would rate them 10 our to 10. They also will give you a discount if you mention you are a Cruise Critic member ( which they honored no questions asked). Read Less

Absolutely great cruise. The crew and staff on the Pacific Princess was outstanding. The accommodations were great and the itinerary was everything we hope it would be. Every port was beyond our expectations. The tours had excellent guides and transportation. The information shared about each location visited was well done. Many ports gave us the opportunity to walk the towns and cities before or after our organized tours. This was an added bonus. Particularly enjoyed the fjord tours in Norway. They were spectacular. The dining on board the Pacific Princess was ideal. Also the ship has recently been refurbished to the decor was beautiful and comfortable. We would highly recommend a cruise on this ship. We added a third week to our cruise and also did the British Isles. This was a great decision. We love to do this cruise again. We can't say enough about the staff on board ship. All were gracious and made our trip very special and personal. Take a cruise on the Pacific Princess. You won't be disappointed. Read Less

What a rude staff with zero passion. They constantly seemed bothered by questions or assisting staff. The activities were very cheap and boring and they didn’t even have enough seats in the theater so people were standing on the side. The food is recycled multiple times and lack flavor. Very depressing 7 days that I used up as my “vacation”. They charged for every little dumb thing, like pizza room service has a charge and you spend $30 on bingo card but have to bring your own pen or buy a marker. What!? When the bathroom floor got wet this black “mold” came out of the door entrance. The gym had cheap equipment and most of it faulty. The hot tubs were barely working, barely lukewarm, and weak jets. It was like sitting in a puddle. I would never recommend this cruise ship to my friends or family, so upsetting! Read Less

I had taken a Baltic Sea cruise with Princess last year and loved it so Princess seemed like a natural choice for Alaska this year. Big mistake. The ship, The Star Princess is older but this should not be an excuse to have filthy carpet in a cabin or light switches falling off the wall. They offered to clean or change carpet during our cruise, both of which we declined because of the fumes associated with both choices. Throughout the cruise there were noisy children playing on the balcony next door very early in the morning (before 7 AM). I called Guest Services and was told they would send someone. I don't know if anyone spoke to this family but someone came to my cabin to let me know that situation would be handled. The kids were not controlled by their parents throughout the cruise and it was very unpleasant for us. The food was mediocre, although the meal in the Crown Grill Specialty restaurant was very good. One day during Anytime Dining I bit into a roll not realizing it was most probably a day old because it was hard and a piece of tooth (molar) broke off! The entertainment was good and we enjoyed the Cruise Director who did keep us laughing. Never got to go on the excursion to Tracy Arm. One of the excursion boats broke down so not everyone could go. The excursion team decided to choose passengers to go based on the date that they reserved the excursion. Supposedly those who booked first got to go. We booked the excursion in February 2019. When we realized folks who booked as late as August were going on the excursion we were irate. We were very upset. Excursion staff became very annoyed with us and described the situation as a "minor inconvenience". Everywhere you looked someone was trying to sell you something. Not giving cabin lowest score because the bed was very comfortable.Disembarkation was smooth. Guest Services staff helpful and knowledgeable. Will try another line next time. Read Less

Overall a good cruise but lacking in a few areas. Had great weather and smooth seas. We found most of the staff very friendly but the food grill folks weren’t as helpful. When asked to toast a bun they wouldn’t do it for a passenger. Also the coffee bar staff struggled to smile and wouldn’t even give a black cup of coffee without charging someone. We had excursions planned and those were good. One problem with the Tracy Arm excursion (one of the boats broke) and half the guests couldn’t go. While disappointing the cruise line did refund the excursion and covered our other excursion in Juneau. The speciality restaurants (Sabatinos and Crown Grill) were great! Excellent food and staff. The regular dining was just ok and the buffet had much to be desired. As a first time cruisers we were not disappointed nor were we blown away or impressed. We heard from other passengers that other ships in Princess are better and that other lines are also better so we will give it another try. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the rates, itinerary and because it left from and returned to Seattle. I was told by friends that the food was mediocre so we were prepared. We weren’t surprised, the food was mediocre. However, the crew was very friendly and accommodating. The ship was clean and inviting. The best parts were the ports, Ketchikan, Tracy Arm Fjord, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria. We saw salmon jumping and seals eating them in Ketchikan. We also ate at Alaska Fish House, very good! In Juneau we ate King Crab at Tracy’s King Crab Shack and used Alaska Tales for seeing Mendenhall Glacier and whale watching...highly recommend! In Skagway we ate at Skagway Brewery and had a Princess excursion to see White Pass Summit and it was breathtaking. We didn’t see much of Victoria because dock time was between 7pm and midnight. Tracy Arm Fjord was amazing! The ship turned 360 for a while so everyone could see all of the gorgeous scenery. It was a highlight of the cruise. Overall, we had a fabulous time. Prior to the cruise start we stayed at Silver Cloud Inn on Lake Union in Seattle. A great location with free shuttle service to Pike Place Market. We took a walk around part of the lake to look at the iconic Seattle houseboats before embarking. I highly recommend it! Read Less

We have always gone Cruising to warm water but so many people said how great the Alaska Cruise is. Why? We couldn't walk the deck while out to sea or use the balcony. It's too cold. They didn't serve any local Alaskan dishes onboard. Only Alaskan inspired European dishes that were more European than Alaskan. (even the baked Alaska) We couldn't afford the excursions that cost $$$$ hundreds of dollars more per person than on warm water destinations. There are only two kinds of shops in the towns, jewelry shops and souvenir shops with the same stuff. Didn't get to see any glaciers or wildlife other than salmon in the river at Ketchican. It just was not a value to me. I would rather sit on a warm beach and snorkel in warm water for the money. The only highlight was some of the entertainment. We have been on 7 cruises, the last 4 have been Princess Cruises, this was #5. We loved Alaska, it was beautiful, that is all I can say good about this cruise on the Star Princess. We paid for an upgraded balcony cabin, when we got to our cabin it was so small that it only had the one chair in it, the desk chair. The room steward told us the room was so small they had to take the club chair out of the room. So that left either my husband or I always sitting on the bed or on the balcony. The room smelled like waste the whole time from the bathroom. The first evening when we left the cabin to go to dinner the balcony sliding glass door would not lock. We had to track down someone to fix it. Then we get to the dining, when our travel agent made the reservations, she said table for 6 on traditional dining. I changed it to table for two in January when I first had to contact Princess, I had to contact them many more times and always asked if we had a table for 2 and was assured we did. But when we got to the dining room we were told there was no tables for 2 open and had to go to The Capri Dining room and maybe they had a table for us or the buffet. Luckily the boss found us a table for 2, but we had no permanent table the whole trip, every night it was a maybe we will maybe we wont. And we noticed the food was really not up to the standards of other cruise we took with Princess The ship was showing her age and by far was the worst we had been on in the Princess fleet. Not sure if we will sail with Princess again. Read Less

The casino floor staff was hard to find and during smoking hours they did not put out ashtrays until asked. The food was just okay unlike my last trip. We had to revert to anytime dining to get good food. The desserts were bland but the cookies were great. The wait staff was usually there to take drink orders. The cruise director and other crew members were fantastic. Because we wanted to visit Alaska for the first time, cruise was nice but I would definitely switch Anchorage or Sitka for Victoria, we arrived at 7 PM and left at 11:30 PM, it was dark and not a chance to visit anything. Another Alaskan port wouod be way better and less expensive excursion too, $130 train trip to nowhere and could not go down, beautiful scenery but poor excursion, but anyway me and my wife were looking for relax and that's what we've found, but I will definitely go back to Alaska again with a different itinerary if possible. Stateroom service was excellent, food quality in the cruise standards, staff very friendly, some services could be handle better, like make a call to find a different flight or arrange a pick up. We had an open dining and was the best choice, we usually don't eat very early as we like to enjoy the onboard entertainments. Overall Princess is the best cruise line in a matter of service and quality of the ships, unfortunately we cannot change the quality of the people ( passengers) lots of them rude, grumpy and with bad habit like fill a plate full of food and then leave half of it, waste waste waste or touch the food and place it back at rhe buffet,...disgusting and maybe they did not even wash their hands. Although I am a Platinum cruiser with Princess it had been a long time since I last sailed with them. As I booked a VERY last minute cruise to Alaska we literally had the last ocean view cabin (Plaza 202) on the ship--all the way forward. My concerns, however, mostly proved to be unfounded--yes we heard the anchor a couple of times but no we didn't hear the theater--yes, the laundry was a few doors down but we not only never heard it nor saw much activity, it actually turned out to be a huge advantage (who gets to return home with a suitcase full of freshly washed clothing :). The cabin steward, Anthony, was outstanding which was impressive considering his 10 years on the job. He checked in on us always with a warm smile and worked very hard to insure our cabin was sparkling and our needs met. Having mostly sailed in balconies on high floors I had forgotten the advantages of simply strolling from cabin directly to the center of activities--from a delicious and varied menu at the coffee bar (pastries, yes, but also lunch and dinner items with a large and always varied menu. There was also a wine bar nearby that featured tapas and wine flights, and plenty of comfortable tables to enjoy the remarkable scenery. The Star Princess also impressed with and one of the most creative and delicious dining room menus we've ever experienced (much better than a recent Celebrity sailing) as well. We adored the naturalist presentations and I had never seen so many folks working out at a cruise gym in 30+ sailings--lots of speciality offerings as well. The massages we had were both wonderful and yet different (international staff) and we appreciated the special coupons distributed for a birthday. We also enjoyed the naturalist presentations and bucket list shore excursions that were very well done (helicopter and ice hiking on a glacier, sea plane landing in absolute serenity surrounded by waterfalls, etc.). I also saw that Princess truly goes the extra mile missing with so many even upscale lines--from champagne fountains to a visually beautiful and delicious Alaskan brunch to a balloon drop and a wonderful presentation from the first woman to win the Iditarod--Princess continued to impress. Lastly, when a problem cropped up I was contacted immediately by the customer relations manager Gianluca, who was the consummate professional--he met me in person, offered a considerable amount of time to listen and really express his concern and desire to make things right --another rare occurrence in the industry. Princess made a "new" convert--we will be returning soon. Read Less

I went on the cruise with my parents to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. We flew into Seattle the day before and went to the Chihuly museum at dusk which was wonderful. The day of the crusie we explored Pike place market which was fun. We ubered to the port and embarkation was smooth. People directed us through the process, and everyone was friendly and helpful. We boarded the ship and went to our lovely mini suite. The room was large and had a balcony where we spent a lot of time watching the scenery. The room showed some age as the couch was frayed and the chair had a stain, but honestly not worth complaining about. Our steward was Melvin who kept the room clean and was friendly. The ship was beautiful and it never felt crowded as there was always a place to find solace. As a first timer, I was amazed by how many activities there are on the ship. If you can't find something to do then not sure what I can say. Our captain had a wonderful sense of humor and Gary the cruise director is top notch. We did the anytime dining which was easy and we never had to wait. The only reason we ever waited was to get into our favorite section with Nikola the section lead, waiter Ben and junior waiter Danjay. The food was delicious and didn't disappoint. We only ate at the buffet twice and it was good. The staff were always pleasant and boy do they work hard. I appreciated the way we had to wash our hands at the buffet. We saw the comedian, the magician (2 shows) and the Motown review. All were entertaining. We also did the Voice of the Ocean tryouts and finals. The culinary show was fun and the tour of the kitchen amazing. Ports: Ketchikan- we did the totem pole your and lumberjack show. Finding the guide was easy and disembarkation was flawless. The tour was really good and our guide was interesting. The lumberjack show was entertaining and corny and something I wouldn't do again. Tracy Arm fjord - the naturalist provided dialogue as we traveled here. Breathtaking. Jeaneau- My parents did the state park excursion, saw a bear and loved it. They also did the tram. I did the kayaking excursion. I thought we would be closer to the glacier ,but the kayaking was a lot of fun with eagles and seals part of the sights viewed. Skagway- lovely historical town and we enjoyed the historical buildings and markers. We took the train tour and the views and smells were amazing. Victoria- beautiful Port City. We didn't do any excursions but chose to walk to the center of town and shuttle back. Seattle- sadly the trip had to come to an end. Disembarkation was flawless and the port offers a service to check your bags to the final destination. So we put our suitcases out on Saturday night and the next time we saw them was at baggage claim at home. I would go again in an instant. Princess did a wonderful job to make sure we had a memorable experience. I'm sure I could find things to nit-pick but honestly I'm not sure what it would be. Thanks Princess for an amazing time. A cruise to Alaska was my dream trip! Even though the cruise ship was not over the top and you can tell it has some wear and tear, the destination was SPECTACULAR! DINING -- Roger Mora in anytime dining is the BEST waiter ever! You can take 2 bottles of wine per person and some water on board -- do it! It will save you lots of $$$$! Just uncork the wine before you go to dinner and you won't have to pay the corkage fee. :) The martini bar staff are hysterical! SHOPPING -- Don't get roped into the jewelry sales, these "used care salesman" are too much! Save your money! Make sure you load the app right away. There are specials that you can use the first day that no one tells you about, but they are on the app. Go to the shopping meeting in the theater to get special coupons and city maps. Don't forget to take your coupons with you to town! ONBOARD APP/INTERNET -- You can also use it to text each other on the ship for free. This was very helpful in keeping track of our group. The internet package is expensive and not really worth it. Unless you are a social media hound, don't bother paying the extra. I was so buy having fun, I didn't really use it. Plus, you can only use it on the ship. When you are in town, it doesn't work. I could have bought a roaming plan from AT&T for $80 less. ENTERTAINMENT -- Make sure you go see the comedians and shows, we were not disappointed! a nice surprise was the Escape Room -- it was a lot of fun -- even solving it with strangers! Be sure to watch the Wake Show - it has important info! PICTURES -- The easy disembark ramp usually has the picture opportunity, go early for the formal night (the photographers take breaks right at the busy time), do lots of poses and have fun! We took stick on mustaches for our formal night and that was the best one of them all! Beware of the picture package prices -- they are EXPENSIVE! Read Less

The Grand , not so grand and it shows. Appalled by maintenance crews entering our cabin even against our explicit direction not to; both when no one was there and when only minors where in the room ( old enough to watch a movie while we dined). Princess felt it appropriate to use our time paid for in the cabin to replace tile/closet doors etc. Rooms are very dated and wear worn. Smoking directly below us ( Emerald 722). We were eventually moved and updated to E732 but then that sprung a serious leak. Wetting our clothes , rugs, etc. The staff is wonderful. Friendly, helpful, gracious. The food is a C+, but I am from SF so standards pretty high. The average age of the cruise was 75+ so it was hard for the kids and sometimes us to blend in. Day time activities sorely lacking mostly geared to loosen your wallet. Major shows very good. Alaska is wonderful. BOOK WHEN OFF THE SHIP FOR EXCURSIONS. I wish i knew that you can save money and get a better idea what you are going to do. All in all I give this cruise a sold C. I would never however sail the Grand Princess again. Did I mention the permeating smell of smoke throught the ship? The casino reeks which is located adjacent to the main theater. I would say if you get a really good deal to go with the knowledge that some areas are lacking. But , if like us you are paying the full amount I would find a better ship. Read Less

We chose this cruise because the itinerary started and ended in a port that was relatively easy access for us. This was our first cruise; and we loved it so much, we're thinking of taking a longer cruise next time. Alaska is beautiful, and we enjoyed all of the port stops; but, it was rather exhausting having them three days in a row. On our next cruise, wherever we go, we'll choose every other port to explore. As a means of transportation, it was the best way to travel. Every need catered, we can relax, watch a movie, walk around, even play sports--no sitting confined in your seat as on a plane or in a car. The food was wonderful--of course. We loved the entertainment, especially the shows by the Princess dancers and singers. The smaller acts in the piazza were wonderful. I could have sat there all day listening to the music. It was lovely having a 24-hour cafe in the piazza where one could relax and listen to the music while sipping and snacking before turning in for the night. This was a great first time experience, and we can't wait to do it again. Read Less

We wanted to see the glaciers of Alaska, and Princess provided a good price for this voyage. The inside cabin with obstructed view was very obstructed with rescue boat blocking the whole window (625). The ship on the whole was in good working order. The staff seemed understaffed and Customer Service (Purser) were not on the ball for a billing/corkage charges to our account. Food on the whole was good, except the hot steamers on the Horizon Buffet did not seem to hold the food warm, cold at times. Our cabin was well maintained. Ship clean. The debarking at the ports went well, except it would be nice if the signs directing direction to gangplank might be more informative. Visit to Ketchican was a rainy and the Salmon Fishing trip was cancelled. Both the Junnea and Skagway went well, a lot of interesting scenery. The Train Trip at Skagway was a pleasant way of seeing a lot of scenery and learning some history. The two cruise day in fiords some good weather and some spectacular scenery was enjoyed. It was nice to have Park Rangers sometimes giving a description of the area the ship was in. While not knowing how we were getting to the airport, it was handled smoothly and had tour explanation of the route to the airport and Anchorage. Not giving the trip 5 stars was for the miscues on us by the staff and the cold steamers. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports that it was stopping at. We also liked the amenities and class of the cruise. We enjoyed the club class dining. Our servers Jelana, Ryan, Iris and Bazvan were the BEST! We always asked to sit at their station and enjoyed their company immensely. The saw to our every gastro need and gave excellent tips on what to order. They really added to our vacation enjoyment! We took 2 of the cruise excursions which were both extremely well run. The guides were very knowledgable. We tried to sign up for some tours in Marseille but they were canceled. I liked Paulos who gave tips on the ports during the sea days. We loved the Sanctuary. It was a quiet and relaxing way to spend the afternoon. The servers were all very friendly and accommodating, waiting on for every need. We really liked the evening shows in the Princess theater, especially the dance themes like the 70's disco. The activities during the day seemed geared more for older people. Too much pushing of the anti-wrinkle, burn fat seminars at the spa. Also we would have liked more lounge chairs available in the shade around the pool. We liked that there was not too much loud music around the pool. Liked the band that played periodically at the pool in the evening. The shuttles to town should not have a cost attached. When you pay $8000 for a cruise, you expect that it will bring you to the actual place that is listed on the itinerary, not have to pay $15 pounds to get you there. My neighbor was so excited to see our pictures, she wants to go on the same cruise next spring. She indecisive on this or a Italy bus tour. Are there any incentives you can give to help her decide? As my wife and I had never been on a cruise before we were a little apprehensive of what company ticked the boxes. Princess Cruises didn't let us down. The whole experience extended our expectations with the amazing service provided by the friendly crew . It was a real first class treatment . Safety on board is paramount and they conduct a very professional informative safety briefing at the various muster points before the fun begins. Housekeeping on board is amazing . The friendly staff go over and above to maintain hospitality grade cleanliness The well organized on board activities and shore excursions accomidate the needs of all ages.We both thought that the tours had more than enough places of interest to choose from and the tour guides were well versed and very knowledgeable of the surrounding areas..We had a fantastic time and recommend to everyone having second thoughts to take the plunge. You won't be disappointed. Read Less

The food was ok . The state room was outstanding but it was a upgrade suite . The ship was very big very nice very clean . Staff was very friendly and the food was average at best except in the specialty restaurants it was outstanding . The entertainment on board the ship was very good especially the comedian who we saw two times he was awesome AJ if he was ever around my area I definitely go see him again he was very funny he also did two entirely different routines . The room that does the show run was large it was very comfortable every seat was very positioned so that you could see everything and hear everything is very pleasant experience. Only problem is they didn’t have enough people in there to get you drinks there was like two people in the whole room so you waited forever to get drinks otherwise you have to go get them yourself they need many more people in there if they want to you know so drinks I had a package so it was sort of a pain because I had to go get it myself. The only thing I had a problem with was when you get on the ship they try to sell you all the spa treatments and all this crap you really don’t want in that cost way more than it’s worth in my opinion they take you on a tour which I didn’t want to take . I have been on four different ships and have cruised four different times the ship was nice people and staff were nice the food was subpar especially for the price we paid . Don’t think I take another princess cruise we had problems with our shore excursions half of them well actually three of them out of the four were canceled . You need to be extremely specific on sure excursions times dates ask as many questions as you possibly can whether it’s better to go in the morning the afternoon because we booked morning trips and they were all canceled due to the fact that they were fogged in early in the morning there was also a train that was canceled but that’s because of a rockslide . We used a Princess motor coach transfer from Anchorage to Whittier and it was very efficient. By completing the Ocean Ready process before we left home, the Embarking was super easy. The services once we boarded and before we left port were plentiful. Our cabin with balcony was plenty big for the two of us. It had a desk and small sofa with the queen size bed. Bathroom was always kept clean. We picked this cruise for the itinerary and were surprised how much we enjoyed the food and the entertainment. Customer service was always exceptional. We pre-booked all our excursions through Princess. They were expensive, but all providers were very good at their specialty. I highly recommend the Hubbard excursion to get close enough to see the immense glacier size and any calving. The cruise ship does not get very close. We did a special photography safari in Juneau and were very lucky with the whale watching. The boat driver knew how to find the whales. The tour size was limited to 14 people. In Skagway, we took the train/bus combo. Best views were from the bus and are fabulous!. The lunch stop is very touristy. The food was good and the dog sled puppies are fun. Disembarkation was super easy with self carry early departure. Read Less
