We were told by Viking Mars excursion staff that only two companies were allowed to conduct these tours, so I stupidly believed them and didn't do extra research. The excursion from the ship was ...

This could have been vetted by Viking ahead of the event and we never saw an excursion rep accompany any tour. Based on past ...

The ship docks offshore and you are tendered ashore, no need to pay for the city bus transfers unless your over 60 as its only a 10-15 minute walk. We have been here a few times before so didn't do a day trip on this occasion, but there are plenty of good options available and you will be able to book these direct with the local operators to save some dollars. ...
