I chose this cruise because a group of girlfriends wanted the itinerary and the cruising dates fit our schedule. We prefer to travel when the crowds are starting to decrease in the early fall and the kids are starting back to school.
I highly recommend the upgraded dinning packages . The specialty restaurants are excellent but the main dining room is very average and the buffet/ cafeteria ...
Before I start my review, I’d like to share a little background about myself. I was born in Germany and lived there until I was 21, so I am well familiar with European customs etc.
My husband and I enjoy cruising. We have sailed on Royal, Disney, Carnival, Celebrity and Norwegian.
We chose the 7-Day Northern European Cruise on MSC Opera because of itinerary and price.
Embarkation and ...
We choose this cruise because of the ports and dates. We stayed in the Haven which is quite expensive but quite lovely.
We were not impressed with excursions. They were too expensive with too many people. I ended up cancelling two of our scheduled excursions and booking local tour guides at 2 ports. It was hot and many people were not dressed for walking on uneven streets. They would have on ...
Service was great ! Staff very nice and fun.
Restaurants a good variety, maybe a bit more of another kind of food....the food was very good most of the time.
The Tastings (whiskey, martini, etc) were soooooooooo much fun you need to try it !
The shows were lots of fun, specially the magic show and the broadway show "Rock of Ages". Karaoke every night and the live music were awesome ...
Overall... we were quite happy with the cruise. Our expectations were low based on the bad reviews. But although u can't compare food wise to other cruises like Carnival (no lobster night!)... it wasn't that bad. Some nights it was even excellent.
Cabin and steward quality is about the same. Waiter was good as well... allowed us to order what we wanted... short of lobsters of course. Didn't ...
Second time around to take this Baltic itinerary! Personally I love cruising on Princess. Although sometimes, it is a hit or miss! I have sailed on Princess many many times and have already build up my level to Platinum/Elite! I love the many amenities provided in that level: free laundry, free bar set-up, free wi-fi (with Regal it it now unlimited vs. 120 minutes before (? don't remember # ...
We chose this cruise as a first time visit to the British Isles. We have sailed with Princess in the past and have not be disappointed. This sailing was a sold out ship so it was very crowded onboard but Princess handled everything very well. Our only disappointment was boarding the ship in London/Southampton. Very disorganized from arriving at the airport to boarding the ship. After we boarded ...
Reasonable amount of room space, decent size balcony for two people. Very comfortable bed. Couldn’t have had a better room steward (Nazy) who was quick & efficient every day.
The buffet food left a bit to be desired (very Asian focused and wish there had been other good, daily options). The two onboard restaurants were excellent with Crown Grille being the best of two. Good wine list at both ...
First I want to mention Dody in Tastes restaurant and Bernadette in O'Shannan's. Both were excellent and made our dining in these restaurants enjoyable. Thank you to both these fine individuals for treating us like old friends. Very special people! Eugene , our room stewart was great as well. Friendly and accommodating.
Our room was a mini suite on deck 12, mid. Small balcony but spacious ...
Having never sailed on a vessel this large before we were concerned about feeling overwhelmed with large crowds on the Getaway. The design of the ship with many different venues (and a lot of them behind closed doors) provides an intimate and enjoyable atmosphere wherever you go. The only exception, of course, is the Garden Cafe buffet, particularly at breakfast time with its pushy and noisy ...
