Rostock is a picturesque town. We went to the information centre and got a town map. With that we did our own tour in 2-3 hours. I would recommend that if you are not going to Berlin.

Nice city, but didn't get to see much of the area due to the weather. We were stranded there a second day due to safety concerns for the ship to leave the harbour.

Warnemunde is a nice, small, tourist experience. Shops and restaurants on the water. We were forced to remain here and unable to go to Berlin due to issues docking with the high winds and size of the Norwegian Getaway.

This was a super boring town. We walked all over it, saw the beach, the "tea pot", etc. The stores were just normal stores like you'd find at any mall. The problem was that the ship could not skip this port because it was picking up other passengers. When the weather was too rough to dock, instead of skipping it and going on to Estonia (Tallinn), we skipped Estonia and spent a day just sitting in the water so we could be sure to get this super-boring port. Not. Cool. Read Less

We got on the train to Rostock and Schwerin. It was a holiday so everything was closed in Rostock. The castle and garden in Schwerin were open and worth seeing.

Enjoyed wandering around Warnemunde, lovely small coastal port. Great cafes, lovely friendly people. Easy walk from the ship. Two independent buses were waiting on the walk to the town offering a bus tour to Rostock from 10 - 3 including the cathedral and another church. Great information on history of area. Driven around Rostock, then a couple of hours free time. Thoroughly enjoyed it - cost 29 euro each. Easy access can be had to catch the train to Rostock or a little further on. We felt Berlin was too far away, but also had been there before Read Less
