25 Vigo Cruise Reviews

Vigo is absolutely awful... I have never understood why some cruise lines choose to dock there (cheap maybe?). It's an absolute dump & the people of Vigo put no effort whatsoever into welcoming visitors.

Worst port ever, nothing to do and is just a ship restocking port, I would rather have an extra day in the med, for a Mediterranean cruise we only actually spent 7 days in the med, 3 ports like this one are in the Atlantic.

complete waste of time. I would not go back. In fact, RC needs to remove this from the intinerary completely. It was very disappointing. We saw one church and that was about it.

We have been to Vigo a few times now and weren't impressed by it.If we don't do a Ships tour, we usually like to go for a walk at each Port but we found Vigo to be rather characterless. I guess it must have been Siesta time when we ventured off as most of the shops were closed but there were some cafes open so we sat and enjoyed a beer in the sunshine. Read Less

Limited as to what is available. Use the tourist hop on hop off bus outside the tourist information (opposite the dock). It's much cheaper than the ship tours

Dreadful. No redeeming points. Used for re-fueling. 20 minute slog uphill to get to a bleak and dreary town centre. Stay on board..most people that have visited before will be.

Sailed from Southampton on 31 October 2011. Rough crossing through Bay of Biscay, several were very ill on board. First Port of Call was Vigo in northern Spain. Were two hours late arriving due to heavy seas and Storm force 2 winds. Much of the town was on hillside and was not easily accessible to many of the disabled passengers who used scooters (hills were very steep) Very little of interest. There were some cafes but as coffee and snacks are free on board the ship they were very little interest. Sailed on to Lisbon Read Less

if I could put -1 I would. this was worst trip of all. the guide dumped us at a little chapel for two hours he said. Then the others unbeknown to us demanded that they go to the shops instead they did not tell us, although we were across the road where he told us to be. One said she wanted to go to the ship. so I thought they had done that. I can only advise those with wheelchairs and hard of walking, insist just a short stay at the hotel/chapel and then driver to come and get them and drive them to the shops. because it is quite a walk. but please do tell everyone on the coach this time. Docked across the main road from the town. It was a bank holiday and virtually everything was shut even part of the cruise terminal. Walked up the hill to the gardens and castle. Unfortunately the civic centre tower block was right in the middle of the view of the Ventura so poor photo composition. Even if the shops had been open I don't think we would have used many (eg C&A, H&M etc). We wished we had gone out of town. Went back to the ship after about 2 hours and had lunch there.   Read Less
