Nice deviation from lots of churches. We enjoyed the scenery and the fortress as well as a look at a replica of a ship Columbus sailed.

We walked straight up to the fort in Vigo and then wound around through the streets and parks. We found an indoor market, but only a few vendors were still open. The port time of 1-6 put us there during siesta, which was a bit disappointing. The other market we'd read about was completely closed. Plenty of restaurants with outdoor, smoky, seating. The port area is commercialized with a mall right on the pier. Go beyond that for a bit more culture. Read Less

Walking off the ship you are straight into the old town, with granite paved streets and steps, lovely buildings. There is also a fashionable shopping street, and a bit farther a branch of El Corte Ingles, Spain s poshest department store, always worth seeking out. The modern shopping centre by the port is ugly and not good, what a pity they built it there, cut past it and head forcthe old town. The setting of Vigo is spectacular, a wide estuary with rocky islands, worth being on deck for arrival. Read Less

We docked right along side of this lovely town, it is easy to walk but the streets are very steep in to the main street. There are many restaurants and cafes quite close by. I am told that the sea food is really good here
