We did a trip to the local castle which was interesting. A few craft shops and a cafe where you could sample some wines. Note: this place has few places to sit especially when trying to escape the heat.

Cool and cloudy day. Lots of walking in city with visits to main square (plaza real) university and cathedrals. No bathroom breaks. Afternoon had lunch with flamenco dancing at hotel outside town.

Interesting city. Would have preferred lunch there rather than a 30 min drive to the venue out of town. Could have provided a packed lunch and then have time to wander?

The tour guide was good and the city is beautiful. It's quite small so doesn't take very long to explore it. Everything about the visit was lovely but it was a shame that the food provided at the restaurant was poor.

A good walking tour followed by some free time, during which we returned to the cathedral to see the art exhibition there. The trip finished with musical entertainment by a group of medical students from the local university.

The tour of Salamanca was one of the highlights of the cruise. Our guide Ric led the English and German speaking group and he was outstanding in both his language fluency and the history.

Coach excursion to Salamanca which took approx 2 hours each way with a 15min comfort stop. It sounds a long time but it really did not feel it. Walking tour conducted by a member of the ship's cruise team. The old and new cathedrals, which are literally built side-by-side were fascinating. Some free time to enjoy a leisurely lunch before meeting up for a musical presentation outside the cathedrals by some of the medical students who attend the local university. Read Less
