244 Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego) Cruise Reviews

The ride was fun and quite picturesque. We rode through several streams and on the beach. If you are an a equestrian, don't miss it.

We walked around the port area which had a lovely park, then explored the town. Lots of shopping opportunities, and we met some nice people prepping for an Antarctic cruise which leave from the port. Rented a car and visited the end of the world, the same as everybody else, only for a few hundred dollars less. It is easy to rent a car from the airport but take a taxi from the ship as it is about 4 miles, which we walked as google maps showed it was about 1 mile, grrr. It is a straight run the the national park and very difficult to go wrong. Entrance to the park is about $13 and can be paid with a credit card or local currency. Read Less

Highly recommend the chocolate shops! Had a buffet lunch at the Hotel Arakur which is magnificent. I'd defineitely factor in a stay here if I ever went back to Ushuaia.

We had been to Ushuaia before so did not want to take any tours. The ship could not allow passengers off until several hours after docking due to high winds so this curtailed any long trips and many excursions were cancelled. Once we were allowed off, we explored parts of the city that we had not previously visited. Had a lovey and very inexpensive coffee on the Main Street. Read Less

The ship docked at 8am but nothing in town opens before 10am. We walked around a bit and then took a 20 minute taxi ride to the Train to the end of the World. We booked the VIP seats on the train in advance through Trip Advisor. It was totally worth the extra expense. We got a choice of hot meal, I had lamb stew and hubby had a chicken wrap, both were great. There was also a choice of three drinks, alcoholic, hot, pop or water. We also got 5 gifts including a calendar, key rings, cakes, our photo and magnets. The rail car was just for us and we felt very spoiled! The ride is 1 hour out and back. It has beautiful scenery in the Tiera del Fuego National Park and travels slowly enough to see everything. There was a short stop at a waterfall and commentary in Spanish and English. We did get off at the turnaround and walked down a steep hill to the water. This is where you can mail cards or get your passport stamped from the end of the world. It's a tiny converted container and the passport stamp is $3US. We got ours from guest services before leaving the ship. The walk down the hill was dusty and hot and we were glad to get a cab to take us back to the top for $5. It was easy to find a taxi after the train got back to the main station. There is a good souvenir store at the station. Read Less

We combined two private tour opportunities through non-ship vendors to use the time ashore as fully as possible. The private taxi tour (outstanding driver/guide, highly recommend- Marcelo Salvini mars8042000@yahoo.com.ar) took us to Tierra Fuego National Park including several photo stops and shorter hikes. Mr. Salvini planned the itineray based on our wishes and it was a non-stop learning opportunity in addition to the spectacular scenery. Then Mr. Salvini helped us coordinate with a pre-booked catamaran ride to the islands in the bay off Ushuai to see several varieties of birds, sea lions and the light house. Both fit perfectly within the time we had ashore. Read Less
