The port area is better organised than we expected, taxis are official, regulated and fixed price, eg to medina 40 euros return per taxi , the driver will wait for you and you pay him when you get BACK which was really comforting! Plus 20 eu extra to add an additional stop in Sidi Bousaid.Medina: Personally i say don't bother..... Horrible, dirty and not at all the quaint bustling market place i ...

The most welcoming port of them all, we were greeting by a drum playing band of 4. We danced on and off the ship. There is history here and the people are very friendly. ...

We decided to adventure out on our own, taking the train to get to Tunis, Sidi Bou Said and Carthage. As a result, we saw the underbelly of Tunis, which is quite different from the polished up version you'll see when you take an organised tour. It's not for everyone. We didn't enjoy it, but then again, not all excursions need to be fun. We learned a lot during this trip.In case you choose visit it ...

Took a private cab to Medina, Sidi Bou Said and carthage. Round trip was 40 Euros. He haggled and started his price at 80. Just walk out the port station, all the regular cabs are waiting for you. Medina markets were definately the highlight here. Not much to see other than buildings and shops in the sidi bou said. ...

There is a nice tourist shop area just after getting off the boat. It is reasonablly priced also. Tunis itself can be a bit of a rip off. We paid over â,¬20 for 2 beers and 2 ice creams in the town centre. They double the prices for tourists I'd say. ...

Before Tunis, we also visited Valencia, a nice port city to visit! Too bad, cruisecritic doesn't list it in the port of call. We shared taxi with our mates, Tunis port has organized taxi operations right outside the terminal (price is fixed and payable back at the terminal). Our driver wanted to bring us to more places for more $, we just told him that we didn't have the time and rejected. ...

Tunis was a superb port to visit. Very safe. Problem was the time there was too short and the cruise visited this port on Monday which is the day the top ranked place to visit, Tile and mosaic museum, is closed. Due to short time there and distance between sights could only visit one of the three recommended sights. ...
