There was plenty of time during our stop to walk around the city and up to the top of a hill with an old fortress overlooking the city, see some of the historic harbor areas, and find an excellent coffee roaster. There were many excellent-looking restaurants in this town and the views of the historic warehouses across the old bridge and river were quite special in the early morning light. There is a beautiful and intricate gothic cathedral in this town that was completely and painstakingly reconstructed, stone by stone over a 200-year period and is a not-to-miss feature. We did not take the tour as we felt it was a bit expensive and wanted to have time to see other areas of the city, but hope to come back again and explore this area further on our own time in the future! Top tip - take a taxi or bus to the town centre, otherwise it's a long walk. But it'll be worth your while. Plenty to see and reasonably compact one you're out of the port complex.

We did this along using the map provided on the ship Recommend heading out alone on this one, we got to the cathedral as it opened so before the crowds, well worth the trip.

We were able to visit the cathedral and walk around on our own in Trondheim. We would have like a little more time, but were satisfied with what we managed to do on our own.

I didn't know anything about this port but had a great day here exploring the city. It is easy to get to the city from the port by walking, and we simply walked down the canals to see the wharfs and buildings and this was beautiful - better than Bryggen. Then we continued down to the quite French looking cathedral and visited the cathedral itself, saw the crown jewels and visited the museum. We considered the art gallery but didn't end up visiting that, so we went to see the wooden palace and sat in the garden there for a time and then went to eat a lovely meal at Ravnkloa fish market. This was a really nice visit. Read Less

Another cool town. Explore the colorful wharf (brygge) area along the Nidelva River, Nidaros Cathedral, and the Kristiansten Fortress for wonderful views.

I walked around city and found a boat cruise just in front of fish market. The boat cruise along river and out into fjord was fantastic!

I Walked to Niarchos cathedral, and then took the long route back in the old bakklandet section, stopping for wonderful coffee in one of the cafes. trondheim's attractions make the shore visit of a few hours seem all too short.
