The shuttle bus dropped us outside the cathedral and the main sites are within a short walking distance. I think the cathedral is better from the outside than in and you might want to save the cost of the entrance fee. Again if you are ... Read More
The shuttle bus dropped us outside the cathedral and the main sites are within a short walking distance. I think the cathedral is better from the outside than in and you might want to save the cost of the entrance fee. Again if you are used to walking there are a no. of sightseeing routes of various lengths you can do. Crossing the Nidela (river) using the old town bridge leads to an attractive area where you can see the riverfront warehouses and a collection of cafes. Read Less

Caught a free shuttle into town, but walked back after our explorations as the queues for the shuttle were too long. Only 15-20 minutes. Weather was wet and gloomy but saw the Nidaros Cathedral and Archbishop's palace (expensive). The adjacent military museum was very interesting, with displays relating to the various Scandinavian wars. Also walked up to the fortress past the bike escalator. Paid US$ 9 for a cappuccino in town! Read Less

We didn't like any of the excursions offered by the ship so we got the free shuttle bus from the port into town and along with our map found our own way around. Trondheim has it's nice parts and it's not so nice parts with eastern Europeans sitting in the street begging, but then we ignored them and had a couple of hours looking around before going back to the ship as it had started to rain.
