Tournon is famous for the Gobelins tapestries in the Cathedral. They were, sadly, missing on the day we visited, (out for cleaning?) The Cathedral, however, has a side chapel with an extraordinary wall fresco depicting the whole life of Christ. It dates for Medieval times and is exceptionally well preserved. Our next stop after Lyon was Vienne with an OK city tour but not of the Roman amphitheater. The ship then stopped in Tournon-sur-Rhone, but we didn't see it since we departed very early on an all-day Optional Tour, "Charming Ardeche". I don't know if this questionnaire will give us an opportunity to review that, but it was Very Good. ...

Extreme heat made it a bit unpleasant for the wine guilds ceremony held in the courtyard of the castle, but there was just enough shade that it was bearable and the ceremony itself (plus wine tasting afterwards) was quite enjoyable. ...
