Tangier was one of our favorite ports. We took the free shuttle bus from the cruise port to a stop near the Grand Socco (Square). It was very easy to walk around on our own. I'd suggest using a pre-downloaded GPS map app like google maps or maps.me to navigate. Once inside the old quarter, the narrow pedestrian streets can get confusing if not mapping it. Again travelled independently and hired a guide for the day. He was fascinating, many stories of the cult era of the past. Lots of interesting buildings and history. Many shops in the bazaar with bargains. I love Morocco so whilst not clean as the Spanish towns it has loads of character, the people are very friendly and if treated well not at all pushy, just highly amusing. ...
This port is MUCH better than Casablanca. There are some rough areas in the vicinity, but also some very nice features in this city. We walked along the beach to the city center. They too have a McDonalds and a Burger King, but also some very nice local places. The beachfront promenade is wonderful; it's also an underground parking garage. We could go back here. ...

Again plenty to see close to the ship but very annoying having to deal with people pestering you to buy merchandise. It is also easy to get lost in the kasbah/medina and anyone you ask will expect payment in return for directions. ...
