Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Sirena

Positive: - Food: if you’re a foodie, this is the cruise line for you. The ‘cafeteria’ type food served in the Terrace was average at best, and breakfasts are nothing special. Dinners, however, are first rate. Especially in their 2 specialty restaurants (no added charge): Tuscan & Red Ginger. Delicious. - Beds: super comfortable. Good pillows too. - Service: as one would expect at ...

Ok, but not great

Good deal on single room price to a destination I had never been before. Getting there was a challenge. Flight from Minneapolis was 2 hours late. Had to change terminals in Los Angeles and since changing carriers too, no help with luggage which was difficult for me with bad legs. In international terminal, nobody knew anything about Air Tahiti. Had to drag bags around for an hour before ...

Too Expensive for an Average Cruise Experience

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Paul Gauguin

Wanted to give a heads up warning to anyone considering cruising on the Paul Gauguin that you will be paying Regent prices without receiving the quality experience you may expect. There are many friendly individuals aboard who work hard to give passengers great service, but there are too many negatives to overcome. It's a long way to travel and a lot of money to spend to sail on a Paul Gauguin ...

From the moment we checked in for the cruise, on floor 5, I was terribly disappointed. The entire ship smelled musty and moldy. The bathroom not he 5th floor, right were everyone must congregate for room assignments, was the smelliest on board. Wouldn't you think the cruise line would keep that spotless? It only got worse from there. The ship was certainly nothing special and not new. I was ...

Excellent food and service but little beyond that.

We chose this cruise because of price, destinations and timing. We have over 50 cruises mostly on Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Princess. This was our first on Oceania. We stayed a week in Tahiti at the Intercontinental in an over water bungalow prior to the cruise. Embarkation was flawless and fast. Disembarkation was smooth in Sydney with the exception of taxi availability. It took 1-1/4 ...

A Tahiti/French Polynesia cruise has been on my bucket list ever since Windstar initiated this itinerary. I'm a solo cruiser and particularly enjoy the Windstar cruises because of the more intimate, convivial feeling with a relatively small passenger size--about 130 in this case. Not an inexpensive trip for a single, but worth it. Embarkation was smooth. SHIP: Delightful 4-masted motor ...

Destination was the key. The islands were beautiful, the water warm & clear, the weather was somewhat hot & muggy, but no rain.. 5 stars for the crew! The service was outstanding. The butler was average and could have done without. The food was below average. Trying to save money? Cabins were clean but small and need some refreshing. The shower was a joke! The excursions were typically ...

My wife and I, ages 77 and 84 and experienced travelers, had cruised on the Paul Gauguin previously (2012). Now, 4 years later, the service on the ship was still outstanding--particularly in the dining areas. The maître d' of the "La Veranda" restaurant was exceptional. The food, however--although well-prepared, well-presented, of good quality and varied--was only average in taste. The ...

Water activities around the Society islads was the aim. That was great. The ship itself is sufficient but limited. One bar one restaurant (ok there is the so called "candles) but actually that is just setting the tables on the pool deck with table clothes. No good in poor weather. The ship doesnt actually "sail". It operates by engine power. The sails are just for show and the "sailaway" is ...
