Average food, great crew, decent service but nothing outstanding

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Star Breeze

Our first Windstar experience, and while it wasn't bad, in certain areas it was disappointing. I realize that all cruise lines are struggling to get back to anything near "normal", so some our our experiences were somewhat to be expected. Highlights were the itinerary, spaciousness and layout of our Classic Suite cabin, friendliness of the staff, and their handling of any Covid-related issues. ...

It is the arrangements that make this cruise horrible

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Paul Gauguin

So, this cruise was highly recommended by our travel agent and so we listened and booked it. So right from the get-go after final payment we received the airline reservations for a flight out of LAX that would not arrive until 10:30PM in Papeete and then they would transfer you to the ship. I am saying why? So, we'll board at Midnight? Yes. Well there goes your boarding experience and no dinner ...

Differently not a luxury cruise!

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Paul Gauguin

My husband and I were looking forward to this luxury cruise on Paul Gauguin. We have cruised many times in our 36 years of marriage and do not have an alliance with any cruise line. We are most interested in the itinerary. Embarkation was poorly done. We were advised to arrive at or after 3PM. We arrived at 2:45pm to a line completely in the sun. Buses were backing up running their exhaust ...

Background:My husband and I traveled from the East Coast to Papeete via Delta and Air France. First visit to French Polynesia and first time on Paul Gauguin (PG). Have cruised many times on other cruise lines. Hotel Information: We arrived in Papeete early a.m., and had a private transfer from the airport to the pier to take the ferry to Moorea for our independently booked three night stay at ...

Nice ship, good dining, mediocre entertainment

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Marina

Chosen for Easter Island port, but it was not meant to be. Surf conditions prevented us from going ashore. Whole ship disappointed. Anyone considering a similar cruise, recommend picking one with an overnight to double your chances of getting on the island. Evening entertainment was not very good. With a few exceptions, evenings were pretty boring. Very few ballroom dancing opportunities, ...

Horrible Capitain on this cruise!!!

Review for a World Cruise Cruise on Marina

I have cruised on Oceania numerous times and never had an experience quite like this cruise. The captain has a reputation on the ship of only going to ports he wants to go to and not what is on the schedule and what is best for the guests, under the auspice of weather or other conditions as an excuse. We ended up with 10 days at sea because of this. Over all the cruise was good (not great) and ...

Best cuisine at sea?

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Marina

Yes, Oceania has the best cuisine at sea, unless you are health conscientious. Overweight and obese passengers were in pig heaven on Marina. We personally found the food way too salty, too heavy with too much butter and too much sweet stuff. For the first time on a cruise we had trouble finding something that appealed to us. We personally love fruits, nuts, vegetables, good bred, fresh fish; ...

Paul Gauguin cruise 2019

We sailed on a 14 day cruise on the Paul Gauguin 26th January 2019. Paul Gauguin booked us on Tahiti Nui airlines from LAX to Papeete, an airline that I don't recommend taking. However, The transfer from the airport to the ship was not too stressful. I found the ship dated (démodé), the cabin not that comfortable, the bathroom was not up to scratch with a tiny shower and a bath that was ...

Go to the Marquesas, perhaps not on the ARANUI 5

Interesting concept of a combo freighter/cruise ship sailing to beautiful and remote Pacific islands. Unfortunately, the sevice and execution was lacking. Food: The food was okay but, except for two of the dinners, there was no variety and it is not recommended for those with special dietary needs. The table wine was okay. Service: Poor. Our first impression was bad when the room keys did ...
