This is an hour from Sweden but train station is 10min walk following a blue line from port. We took 5 min shuttle bus though, provided by cruise at small cost, then train to Stockholm City. So check train schedule online. Buy day card it's perfect-use on train, trams and ferries so easy to get around Stockholm ourselves. Get map at station or download before. Did Vasa museum, lunch at Gondolen, Gamla Stan (must), enjoyed a fika break, walked around City Hall. Only issue was train back to Nynashamn stopped running/was delayed- so almost stranded us!! But a group of us cruise goers found each other and somehow managed to get taxis back to port in time. Costly (not reimbursed by cruise) but it didn't ruin the trip, Stockholm was just SO pretty and we lucked out with nice weather. Read Less

Booked a city tour independently. Excellent. Plenty to see, very knowledgeable and accommodating guide. We saw the changing of the guard. It might be nice to add a water cruise on to the tour if you have time

The VASA museum was part of the city tour. We were very happy with the whole tour. Wish I had a better camera as no flash was allowed.

Vasa must see coupled with a city tour. Large group with Princess but nonetheless was good. Stockholm is a beautiful city with much to offer.

Informative. We were offered the option to come back when we want via the ship shuttle and we enjoyed wandering around.

I did the "Stockholm on your own" tour (a.k.a. Norwegian bus from Nynashamn into the city) because I was too chicken to brave the train and risk not getting back. I also bought an all-day pass for the pubic transportation. I was on one of the first buses to leave. The bus dropped us off at the Opera House around 8:30, just over a bridge from Gamla Stan (Old Town). I did the Rick Steves' walking tour of old town before it got crowded which was nice. Then I took the ferry to Djurgarden and walked to the Vasa Museum. I bought my ticket ahead of time and did not have to wait in line. I watched the video, then did the 11am tour in English, then wandered around for another hour or so. I was exhausted so I had a long lunch in the museum cafe. I then popped briefly into the Nordic Museum. Then I took the tram 7 back to Kungsträdgården and did Rick Steves' modern city walking tour. From the end of the walking tour at Hotorget I took the subway back two stops in the direction of the opera house. Then I stopped at a cafe and had a snack before boarding the bus around 4 for the ride back to the ship. Read Less

Stockholm – we left early, but our brief stay was welcomed by friendly locals, cute shops, pretty old town to stroll around. I will need to come back to see more. I liked the sailing into stockholm via the archipelagos.

Only spent and afternoon and morning here but wish I'd had more time. Loved the ice bar for its uniqueness. We styed at the Sheraton which is well located and has good rooms. Also the cruiseline picked us up from there to the ship.

Not nearly enough time in this amazing city. I think we had 6 hours, and we needed more like 2 days. Take time in Gamla Stan - the old town, but it is tourist central - so also need time to get out and see the other islands.
