Stockholm was another interesting old city with lots to see and do (we toured the Vassa Museum which was spectacular) and tried to see all of the hi-lights before having to return by train (1 hour ride each direction).

We bought a day ticket for the local transport at the cruise terminal, £7.69 each for seniors. We then followed the blue line to find the bus stop near the terminal and took the bus, later changing to a tram, to the Abba Museum. Having seen this when Jayne Macdonald did the Baltic cruise in her programme, and all being mega Abba fans, this was a must do. Throw yourself in and do all the experiences there. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed their time, some 3 hours, at the ABBA experience. Afterwards, we took the local ferry to Gamla Stan (the old town), which was included in our local transport day ticket where we had a lovely local lunch at Ardbeg Embassy, then wandered and tourist shopped on the way to picking up the ships shuttle. This was when we found that there had been major demonstrations that day holding up the upper end of the old town - none of which had impacted us until now. The ships shuttles had been held up by the stopped traffic. There was no need to worry though, after being directed to the new pick up place for the shuttle, and having a grand tour of outer Stockholm to find a way round to getting back to the ship, there was never any worry that the ship would wait for us. If we had known about the delay though, we would have just used the local ferries and our all day tickets to get back to the ship - it would defintely have been much quicker, if less eventful. We toured ourselves around and loved it. Wish we had not lost a day there, there was so much more to see.

Stockholm Was so Hot! We enjoyed our Steves walking tours and meeting with a friend from home for lunch before he went home the next day. Lots to see and do, ran out of time.

Docked in Nynashamn and took the train to Stockholm, it was very easy. Tickets are available right where you get off the ship, follow the blue lines on the sidewalk to the train station. Took the #7 tram from near the train station to the Vasa Museum. Then took a cab to Gamla Stan. All this for MUCH less than a shore excursion and we could manage our own time. Read Less

The weather was rainy and cool, but we enjoyed a day in Djurgarden at the Vasa museum and Skansen open air folk museum. The public bus was easy to catch across the street from the port. There was a ticket machine that some had trouble with or you could download an app. We walked to the TI at the far end of the pier (closer to the RCCL ship when were there) to buy day passes. We took a cab to the Vasa Museum for about $23. We could have walked there but we probably won’t have had the energy to walk and explore on the way back. The museum is the first HOHO stop and people beat us there from the ship because the docks are under construction and busses can use a separate lane that goes faster. I think the HOHO was $20pp so we ended up saving money and the museum never got packed. We loved the Vasa museum. I almost couldn’t get my husband to leave. Just a lot of amazing history there and the irony if a ship sinking on its maiden voyage is amusing. We walked along the water and into old town. We stopped and hadn’t Swedish pancakes (when in Sweden...) at Stortorvet number 3 which is from 1640. So cool! We wandered the streets and alleys and eventually stopped for a beer and heading to the ship. Read Less
