Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Azamara Journey

We cruised the Baltic ports at the end of June on Journey. Previously we had sailed on Quest in Feb 2016, both ships being identical helped in navigating our way around. Both ships have been upgraded since and I was slightly disappointed that the BEIGE look in the cabins dominated, the heavy chairs in the dining room were ridiculously heavy and I needed help in getting closer to the table to ...

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Costa Magica

Our fourth cruise with Costa (the second with Costa Magica) and, unfortunately, we have seen, over the years, a gradual decline in quality. Both cleanliness and services are maintained at good levels; the kitchen is on the decline. For the entire duration of the cruise we had to avoid shrimp dishes because this crustacean was almost inedible. For the rest, average cuisine. As for the excursions, ...

My first cruise - wouldn't recommend Costa again

The cruise itinerary was excellent, lots of time to explore some fascinating cities, and the value for money was reasonable. I was disappointed that none of the traditional Italian foods I was looking forward to like pizzas, gelato and coffee were included, all were extra costs. In addition, they lost my bag on disembarkation and made me trek around Stockholm trying to recover it, taking no ...

True service only offered on upper class suites

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Marina

This is my second cruise on Oceania and true to form all of the amenities they mention and all of the service they brag about is truly only available on their concierge suites or higher. If you are in a regular room you will not get the best service or opportunities on the boat. A couple of examples. They rave about their great "specialty" restaurants. Priority is given to the upper suite ...

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Sea

This cruise had a lot of ports that were on our bucket list. We enjoyed the three over night port stops. Our room was nice and kept very tidy by our room steward Anton and his team. It could use some more storage for clothes such as shelves or a few more drawers. (That’s my only complaint). The ship is beautiful. The spa with the thermal suite and snow grotto is so cool. We went as often as we ...

Included excursions are just to take you to overpriced gift shops

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Sea

Viking spends a lot of money on marketing and is indifferent to the travel experience of the guests. The only way to see the destinations is to purchase the high-priced optional excursions, as the included excursions tend to be "panoramic tours" (a drive-by in a bus--impossible for photographs!) that end up in an overpriced gift shop where guests are left to wander around for close to an hour ...

Oceania dumbing down

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Marina

My wife and I were excited when our best friends finally chose to go on a cruise. The choice for the four of us was a Baltic Sea cruise on the Marina. We've cruised on Oceania twice before and we regaled our friends with the food, the service and the over the top experience they'd expect. What a disappointment! The main dining room menu was a NCL type menu, the specialty restaurants were great but ...

Itinerary was best part of the Cruise

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Marina

Itinerary was exactly what was wanted for a Baltic cruise. 3 days in St. Petersburg is a must. The other ports were excellent. One port allowed us the opportunity to meet family we had located and only corresponded with for years. September sailing was decent weather. Rain for short bursts of time during one or two tours but sunny and pleasant other days. Tour guides from Oceania and ...

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Seven Seas Explorer

We sailed on the new Explorer. We were very disappointed with our cabin on this new ship. Very small compared to the other Regent ships. (we have sailed on all the others). Couldn't move in the room. Closet too close to the beds, no walk around space. Very disappointing compared to the sister ships. Our cabin was like a much less comparable cruise line cabin. We like Regent because we have always ...

Possibly not "The World's Most Luxurious Ship"

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Seven Seas Explorer

User Avatar

Luxury encompasses the entire passenger experience. The physical environment of the ship is part of this experience, and the Seven Seas Explorer does present an environment that is richly decorated and often spacious, but the passenger experience suffers some of the same faults that I have encountered on other Regent ships. After a rather bad experience on a recent cruise on the Seven Seas ...
