Our fourth cruise with Costa (the second with Costa Magica) and, unfortunately, we have seen, over the years, a gradual decline in quality. Both cleanliness and services are maintained at good levels; the kitchen is on the decline. The cruise itinerary was excellent, lots of time to explore some fascinating cities, and the value for money was reasonable.
I was disappointed that none of the traditional Italian foods I was looking forward to like pizzas, gelato and coffee were included, all were extra costs.

This is my second cruise on Oceania and true to form all of the amenities they mention and all of the service they brag about is truly only available on their concierge suites or higher. This cruise had a lot of ports that were on our bucket list. We enjoyed the three over night port stops. Our room was nice and kept very tidy by our room steward Anton and his team. Viking spends a lot of money on marketing and is indifferent to the travel experience of the guests. Itinerary was exactly what was wanted for a Baltic cruise. 3 days in St. Petersburg is a must. The other ports were excellent. One port allowed us the opportunity to meet family we had located and only corresponded with for years.
September sailing was decent weather. Rain for short bursts of time during one or two tours but sunny and pleasant other days.

Luxury encompasses the entire passenger experience. The physical environment of the ship is part of this experience, and the Seven Seas Explorer does present an environment that is richly decorated and often spacious, but the passenger experience suffers some of the same faults that I have encountered on other Regent ships.
