The Worst Cruise So Far

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Serenade of the Seas

My husband and I wanted to show our granddaughters 13 and 16 the capitals of Northern Europe and in spite of cheaper options of Holland America and others ($90 a day per person) chose Serenade of the Seas ($150) thinking the quality of food and entertainment will be better. It was just the opposite. Lots of canned/frozen vegetables, cheesy-greasy dishes at Windjammer, not even the once-per cruise ...

Royal Caribbean reminds me of a cost cutting US airline - room for improvement

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Serenade of the Seas

The itinerary of multiple ports including 3 days in St. Petersburg was outstanding. We were at sea for only 1 day and that was fine for some down time. Royal Caribbean reminds me of a cost cutting US airline; I was not happy with several key points: 1) Shore excursions were very pricey including Russia, $325 to visit Egskov castle in Denmark and $179 for Schwerin Castle. I think they ...

I have never been so disappointed on a cruise. I choose this cruise because of the itinerary because it had 3 nights in St. Petersburg, Russia. The ship is well worn. It really needs to be refurbished. It was the smallest balcony cabin I have ever seen. The beds were like sleeping on a rock, because there are no box springs, the bed sits on a metal platform. Every couple of days, the water, ...

An average cruise with poor back room support

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Serenade of the Seas

This should have been the cruise of a life time - visiting Scandinavia, Russia and the Baltic states. Instead, it was an average cruise with reasonable on board comforts and good food BUT a shore excursion department probably controlled by faceless folk at head office that ruined the experience. It all went down hill before the cruise left port. Having unfortunately been robbed on the Paris ...

Visiting the little island of Bornholm was wonderful

We choose the cruise because we had never seen the Baltic States and we prefer small boats of giant ships. It got good reviews and we had done many riverboat cruises before. We thought this would be like an big river cruise... wrong. We started the cruise by spending three days in Stockholm to get our bodies in the right time zone. We loved Stockholm, found it easy to navigate and the people ...

RC has gone downhill.

My family of 13 went on the Serenade from Stockholm to Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Riga in early July. We had travelled on many cruises previously, many with RC. I must say this was one of the worst. The family members ranged from teens to an octogenarian. We booked 7 cabins around January, well before the cruise. At that time only "Guaranteed" cabins were available. Since some of our ...

Our Second and Final Cruise with Celebrity

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette

We took the Celebrity Silhouette Baltic cruise on June 19th. It was the worst cruise we ever took and we will never cruise with Celebrity again. Our dissatisfaction is mainly due to the fact that most of the crew we dealt with was indifferent and did not care at all about customer satisfaction. There are many incidents I can site, but the following are the two biggest: Be very careful if you ...

Unexpected Disappointment From a Reasonable Couple

We have taken over 35 cruises during our marriage. Certainly some have been better than others but we have never been disappointed in a cruise until this one. We have so many friends that will only travel on Regent and endlessly have told us that until we have gone on a Regent cruise we really have not experienced what great cruising is all about. Admittedly, it was with that kind of build up that ...

My wife and I recently returned from our Northern Europe / Baltic Sea cruise on the Royal Caribean's Serenade of the Seas from July 12 to July 19th. We have been on 14 cruise, dating back to t 1996, and this our second trip with RCCL. We arrived in Stockholm a day early to do some sightseeing and we eagerly awaited the start of our cruise. Traveling from the hotel to the port, and the embarkation ...

Our cruise was great, the ship was beautiful, the crew always ready to assist. The excursions for the most part were very good, however some of the local guides were very poor. The lectures and on board entertainment was top notch The pre cruise and post cruise excursions were a waste of money. I will never use this again. If I take another Viking cruise I would plan this totally on my ...
