Great Itinerary!

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Serenade of the Seas

I chose this cruise for the itinerary. The overnight in Stockholm, our embarkation city, allowed us to fly in on the day of the cruise, rather than fly in early to assure we did not miss the ship due to air travel delays. There were also three full days in St. Petersburg, and an overnight in Copenhagen before disembarkation. We stayed in an inside cabin located on deck 9 forward. I found the ...

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Sea

We traveled on a Viking River Cruise several years ago and loved it. We wanted to experience Viking's new ocean ships and the Viking Homelands offered new destinations for us. Everything exceeded our expectations. The intimate feeling offered by a smaller ship, where many of the crew greeted us by name after the first day. The variety of food and the preparation was like dining in upscale ...

Please turn down the volume!

Great ship, food and staff. Would have been a 5 star experience if the music had been turned down to normal! The sound in the theatre and all entertainment areas was so loud it was distorted. Several times we left the theatre after 5 minutes and we also had to move several times in other ares because of the volume. OK, many of the travellers were old but that doesn't necessarily mean ...

We chose this cruise because of the places this ship docks and the fact there is an included shore excursion in all ports. Entertainment is not an import criteria for us as we reside in the Big Apple where we have so many different options of world class entertainment. However, there is no excuse for the poor quality of entertainment that is offered on this ship and it only was worse as the cruise ...

Too New--Who Knew

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Sea

New ship. Long history of success with River Cruises. Not so much with ocean cruising. Ship rocked a lot on open ocean; enough to wake us and make walking difficult. Cabin was minimalistic but room for hanging and storing clothing and luggage was enough. Food was very good overall. Sometimes had a slow go of it when excursions were leaving early. Entertainment was average to poor. The ...

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Serenade of the Seas

The itinerary of this cruise was excellent with only one day at sea. Now to the part that explains why my rating was only 3 stars. The food in the dining room and the Windjammer were adequate at best. Please don't order a steak in the dining room because honestly it was the worst quality of meat I have seen. I actually tried ordering it twice with the same results. Sorry Royal but true. ...

This was the cruise I wanted to take, it offered the most time in St. Petersburg and you are going to need it. All the other ports of call were wonderful and just beautiful. I am a Royal Carribean loyalist. I like the layout of the ships and Serenade was no surprise. She is a beautiful older lady who sadly is showing her age. I was disappointed to see rust in our bathroom and the curtains over our ...

I'll be writing this review in 2 segments. First, a quick overview and then a detailed review of the ports and details of the cruise. The Good: Our cabin. We were in 9656, a 2 bedroom family suite. The concierge privileges were also amazing. Chops for breakfast (concierge privilege) was wonderful. The itinerary was wonderful and the service was with a smile. The teen club was active and ...

Viking Customer Service Is Deplorable!!

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Star

This is a beautiful ship with very good food and amenities. Disappointed that the"Snow Room" was merely a cold room with frost and the Steam Room was out of service for the entire cruise. The staff, with the exception of the clueless Customer Service people, were quite good. They did a great job! All was wonderful until after we left Russia. Lost one of the two engines and spent several days in ...

Well, this is going to be one difficult review to write, as more than half of our cruise was cancelled by Viking on account of mechanical problems with our Ocean Cruise ship, the Star. It was to be a "trip of a lifetime," and I guess the adventures of the adjusted itinerary combined with the beauty and comfort of the new ship made it so, in the end. So I'll try to give the balanced ...
