Hate to blame NCL but the blame is theirs to take. Our port itinerary changed from Stockholm to Nynashavn ( 1hr train ride away or 1h 40min bus ride away from Stockholm). We received a flyer in our room, apologizing for the change and NCL offered guests who booked prior to the change notice (which essentially involves almost everyone, since we booked 3 months before and we did not knew the port change) for a free bus and train transfer to Stockholm. To claim it, you have to go to the Guest Services, and you've guessed it another long unruly lines to claim your freebies. And it was indeed a shuttle bus, then a train ride. No direct transfer amigo. But they extended the port time by 4 hours so all was good. We planned to return 4 hours before the on-board time, because we ran out of things to do. Alas, the train service in Stockholm broke down and no service to Nynashavn for unknown time. To make worse the announcement were in Swedish, we waited at the train station confused that the scheduled train has been late for almost an hour. Until one arrived which everyone, locals and tourists alike, try to squeeze in, only to be told to get out again at the next stop. Then a bunch of NCL people gathered telling people to wait there. NCL will send bus to pick us up there. That is the passenger talking btw. Then 20 minutes passed? Then everyone suddenly rushed out to the street near bus terminals. Some passengers were hailing taxis. The rest of four hundreds just piled along the street. And in the end, we arrived 15 minutes post departure time. To which 200 passengers have not yet returned to the ship. And later it was announced that the ship departure time will be delayed for 3 hours and the stranded passengers being picked up by NCL bus. A good gesture from NCL. But quite late for us. Read Less

Need to download app to buy bus tickets... and the time starts from the moment you make payment so you can't buy in advance... and if you do not have internet access on your phone... then you are out of luck on public transportation. Visited Vasa Museum to see the ship and the city. Has a wonderful lunch at Borgmästarn Restaurang & Bar and took a free walking tour. Wish we had more time as the city seems to have much more to offer. Not cheap though. A bus ticket cost over US$5 each. Read Less

Our docking experience was quite poor and we got off the ship over an hour late. I hope for future cruisers that this was an isolated experience of a new ship in a new port (the port itself is relatively new technology). Once off we were supposed to have a free bus transfer but none of the NCL staff had any idea what we were talking about. We finally found one supervisor who told us just to take the train and we would be reimbursed (which we surprisingly were - at a price higher than the train tickets). The train station is a 20min or so walk from the port along a well marked, blue line. There is however only one ticket machine so if you can, you might want to buy your tickets on your mobile. However, since the ticket line was so long, the very kind train staff told everyone just to get on and buy their tickets when they got to Stockholm. The ticket inspector didn't give anyone any trouble either. For Stockholm, we had also planned a Free Tour but had changed our mind and just ended up walking around to see the sites. There is more than enough to do and after being in tiny Helsinki the day before, we were a bit overwhelmed how much there was to see. Read Less

We were moved to a port 90 mins outside of Stockholm which was a bit of a pain. We booked the Hop on Hop off from outside the port building (you have to be off early as once the buses are full thats it regardless of pre booking) We managed to get the bus and Abba ticked for 405 Swedish Krona - when we arrived they were charging 50 euros per person without Abba ticket so it is worth pre booking on the morning if you know you can make the bus. Stockholm is so amazing, we did the Abba tour for fun but wished we had more time to explore the Vasa and the areas more as it was amazing. Old Stockholm behind the Palace was definitely the nicest place to eat and drink it was really pretty Read Less
