Stockholm had clear weather, caught the changing of the guard etc.  Traffic was snarled because a key drawbridge was raised for a boat parade (we were able to avoid this).  Town Hall is wonderful architecture - 5 of the 6 Nobel prizes have their banquet here.  The wait to climb the tower was too long for the brisk weather and the short shore time.  Central Stockholm has several great views - it's a set of hilly islands.  Didn't have enough time to visit the Vasa museum or the amusement park with its scray-looking roller coaster ride.  The cruise through the archipelago is beautiful - reminds me of the Thousand Islands area just east of Lake Ontario (Canada-U.S. border) Read Less

Stockholm was a gorgeous port. We had far too short a day there though so we didn't get everything done we wanted to. We took the hop-on hop-off boat which was great, although one was broken down the morning we got there so they were a little slow. We hit the Gamla Stan first and adored the place, it was so pretty, although the castle really isn't that nice. We did a tour of the cathedral which was really interesting with it's St George and the Dragon statue. From there we went to the Vasa and joined a tour there. Amazing museum, the kids loved it. They even loved the movie which talked through the restoration. The boat is so well restored and there is so many other artifacts there as well as recreations that you can spend quite a while there. Then we hit Tivoli Grund and the kids barely had enough time for 3 rides before we had to race back to our boat. A lovely day (nice and warm too), but over too quickly.   Read Less

Took an NCL tour only to go to VASA museum. This was a wonderful museum and the ship is magnificent. We decided to get off the tour in the old city and walked around and walked back to ship. Lots of stores for shopping in old city and this was such a nice day so we walked along the water and ate ice cream. Enjoyed and wish we could have stayed longer. We had to back on the ship by 3:30. My husband and I selected the excursions Princess offered, so in Stockholm we first went to see City Hall where Noble Prizes are awarded.  The hall features mosic tile which covers the walls in very intricate designs.  From there we traveled to see the Vasa Museum that we found to be very interesting.  Three hundred years ago, the Sweeds built a very large ship and thought it would sail but it sank in 100' of water not to be discovered until 1950 when it was brought to the surface in wonderful condition.  There was no place to put this ship, Stockholm constructed a special building to house and show off this prize. Stockholm was a bit wet unfortunately, and if we hadn't booked to go to the Absolut Ice Bar, we wouldn't have got off the boat.  We had to tender off the boat, mainly as Queen Vic was in our slot, and we'd arrived late.  Big plus point of Stockholm, the absolutely awesome archipelago, offering great views.  On the way out, get up to the Metropolis bar on deck 18!Rated 4 for the archipelago only, couldn't comment properly on the city as it was too wet to appreciate. What a beautiful place we could have spent a week there. It was certainly our favourite port. We saw the changing of the guard which was a great experience and the little cobbled streets were a dream to walk around.

Stockholm is a beautiful city!Be an early bird and watch the ship enter the famous archipelago! Why not have breakfast at your balcony? There is a lot of things to do in Stockholm: Visit Vasa museum, and watch the old wooden war ship with its cannons that was collected from the bottom of the sea 30 year ago after a few hundred years. For the family: Visit Skansen a zoological park, and Gröna Lund, a small amusement park. Take a stroll in Old Town "Gamla Stan". Go to the Ice bar and have a Absolute vodka shot in a glass made of pure ice. Shop at NK and Biblioteksgatan for designer brands and Hötorget for bargains.
