We took the shuttle to Gypsy Cove and were able to see some penguins hanging around on the beach.We continued for quite awhile along the trail until it was too windy and cold . We hung back where the penguins were and sat and watched for a long time. The docent there are excellent at what they do. For me the Falkland Island were the highlight of the cruise. We managed to get ashore (due to weather and swell it is not always possible, it being a tendering port) and found quite a few locals offering tours. In the information centre we picked up an elderly local chap, he took us 2 and another couple with two children on a tour by his 4x4 to see some nature, penguins, birds etc. It was great, ...

Got off the ship and booked a private touring company at the dock who took us to Gypsy Cove for half the money. Saw all the penguins you could want to see up close and personal. Great day but wear your winter coat, gloves and hat. Very cold at the cove but it was sunny and warm in town. ...
