Wonderful shopping area built just for ship passengers. You can make good deals on jewelry here and the LIQUOR IS CHEAPER THAN ON THE SHIP!!!! NCL doesn't price match so buy liquor at this port! Avoid: Taxi driver Alphonso Archibald "Bobby." Clean taxi but you drive in SILENCE. He was supposed to give us a tour of Brimstone Hill Fortress. Instead, we had to ask about everything and he only answered with a yes or no. Sure he drove us there but we did NOT get a tour or learn anything about the island from him, it took toooooooo looooooong and it was expensive. Kinda interview your drivers. If you're asking them to give you a tour, find out if they can or will hold a conversation!!! Will they speak to you and explain where you are or will they hum to themselves while taking you down bumpy, winding roads in an unfamiliar place? These guys are all lined up for the taxi dispatching people to hail. Don't hop in the first one that drives up. SEE IF THEY SPEAK FIRST!!!!! Read Less

We had taken the St. Kitts Scenic Railway before (and enjoyed it tremendously) so we opted for a trip to Caribelle Batik at Romney Manor followed by a tour of the Brimstone Hill fortress, both through Carnival. Romney Manor, located in the small town of Sandy Point, is beautiful and very well preserved, surrounded by lush tropical gardens. The Brimstone Hill fortress is a must-see for anyone who likes history. Our cruise stop was Basseterre, St. Kitts. We decided to take a taxis, which we got outside the port gate, to the South Friars beach for $20 for 4 people. This is a secluded beach offering a bar & food place to eat & relax & rented beach chairs & cover if you desired. This was a nice place to relax & enjoy the nice reef to snorkel just off the beach that we spent most of our time seeing all the fish & coral formations. We took an early morning excursion on St. Kitts booked through Royal Caribbean: Sky Safari Zip Lining. It was one of the first excursion we booked because we knew we wanted to zip line at some point during the trip. Upon disembarking on the ship, we joined up with our group inside the port terminal. After we were all there, they split us into groups for the taxi ride to the Sky Safari place. It was about 20 minutes, and the taxi driver was informative along the way giving a mini tour. Upon arriving at the Sky Safari location, we suited up for our first training zip line. It was short, and low to the ground. Next, we headed up the mountain for the real zip lines. There were four more lines, and all were a little different and fun! The guides were very professional. You can take your still and video camera on the zip line for some great pictures. After the 4 lines were over, we took at short walk to the botanical garden and a gift shop. It appears to be just part of their "package" but not really necessary. Upon arriving back in the town, we headed to the Immigration Office inside the port terminal to get our passports stamped since this was the first foreign port. We then walked through the town for shopping. There were some neat stores with lots of variety including an outdoor market. While not as many shops as St. Thomas, it definitely had a variety of nice stores with good tourist items. Read Less

We went on a beach break here. which was quite a long drive but gave us the opportunity to see other parts of the Island. The only down side was that we were told at the beginning of the tour that umbrellas would only be $3 but when we got there were charged $10! Read Less

We liked St Kitts - good shopping right by the pier (but get used to Diamond and gem shops - you are going to see a lot of them on every island - and if the Celebrity Today 'newspaper' is going to recommend a shop on an island, its going to sell jewellery! We did the Zip-line safari which was great fun for all ages - not too strenuous. Some people moaned that there were only four lines and that there were more on other islands (then go to another island!) Overall this was good fun and was about half an hour from the ship, so you got to see some of the villages and scenery as well Read Less

We took the Scenic Rail excursion in St Kitts and had a good time. A lovely island tour from the train, followed by a bus ride back to the ship. Best way to see the island. Our bus driver, Teddy, was fun and we had a good ride back. We enjoyed the complimentary beverages on the train - nice pina coladas! Read Less

We had no shore excursion planned. We just walked off the ship and got a taxi and headed off to a beach. I can't remember the name of the beach but it was at one end of the island and appeared to be in an area that was being developed. Our taxi driver arranged to come back at an appointed time to pick us up. The beach was pretty windy, as was most of the island that we saw. There were a couple of restaurants and places to rent chairs. It wasn't my favorite beach area but I think maybe we just didn't choose well. Our taxi drive, who was very, very nice picked us up at our appointed time and on the way back to the ship took us on a little drive through a residential are on a hilltop. It was very pretty and we (even our kids) enjoyed it. The people on St. Kitts were very nice and I think that we would someday go back there. Read Less

We took a full tour of St. Kitts. We enjoyed the island views that it offered. We could have stayed a short while at a beach which was very nice but declined. We enjoyed the tour but I'm not sure what else could be done on the island. There were other tours offered by the ship which might appeal to others preferring a more active visit. Read Less

We rented a car and drove around the island. Alternatively, you could book excursions to take you to the sights, but expect to be crowded onto small vans. The rental car was expensive but for three persons, it came out to be the same price as booking one shore excursion while getting to see the entire island. We visited the botanical garden and the fortress which are must sees. We took the road all the way South to the Nevis ferry. You pass over a mountain for excellent views of most of the island. In St. Kitts we did not have a tour planned. We got off the ship and walked around town for a little while. Then we went back to the port and made a deal with a taxi to take us around the island. The island is beautiful and our taxi driver was very knowledgeable of his home land. The water in St. Kitts is the prettiest we saw the whole cruise. After touring the island we went back to the port entrance and found an internet cafe that was only $2.00 for 20 minutes. So we bought 40 minutes and checked in at home. We did not make it up the mountain to the Brimstone fortress but will do that next time we are there. Read Less

Went with Rose & Jim's taxi to see St. Kitts. We had Rose a nice english lady who had married a local and lived on the island for 26+ years. Learned alot and have some great pictures especially from around the Batik factory. I enjoyed this tour but not quite as enjoyable (hard to follow Cosal I'm afraid) We did end with Cockleshell beach, crowded and not really my thing. Two couples and I asked to be taken back early to the ship and Rose was great in doing so and coming back for the 4 who had wanted to stay at the beach. Definitely would recomend Rose & Jim although I will pick another tour operator next time just for a different perspective on the island. Again drought here but still green and lovely. Great photo ops at Brimstone fortress/coastline and Batik factory grounds. Read Less

St Kitts has a nice shopping arcade as soon as you get off the ship. Natives are friendly. We took a taxi with friends to Cockleshell Beach on Southern End of island and cabbies were very friendly and gave us a lot of information about the island. Beach was beautiful with very clear water. The ride to the beach was an experience itself winding around mountains and cliffs with wild monkeys along the way. Read Less

Tour with Thenford Grey was okay but the beach area we were taken to was the same beach as our excursion on Constellation last year. The locals are constantly trying to sell you their goods and I would prefer to be left alone unless I want something. Read Less

Lovely island. The train ride is wonderful; I had taken it before and the train broke down so we didn't finish the last half of the ride. I got to see the second half this time. Many beautiful beaches you wouldn't see any other way most likely. Locals are wonderful people, a group came on the train and sang cool songs and the trip was narrated with facts and interesting things about the island. Alllll aboard!   Read Less
