While most people made their ways to the beach using ship excursions we opted instead to walk around the town. Walking along the main road as it followed the harbour we then walked back via another street discovering a couple of churches & Independence Square in the centre of town. Terrible port, constantly harassed by street vendors selling tours etc. The main city center withing walking distance should not allow tourists, there are no sidewalks and was nearly hit by speeding cars. Filthy terrible port to visit, our worst port we visited. ...
I gave this low rating because the excursion was horrible! We had a train ride that was supposed to take us through wonderful scenery. We spent about two hours on an extremely rough train ride through tall sugar cane. We couldn’t even see anything except sugar cane for most of the ride. The ride was so rough, one person on the train got sick.
