In St. Kitts we took the tour of Clay Plantation which was excellent. The animal refuge was clean and provided safe spacious rehabilitation for the animals. The rum punch was amazing and the fruit punch was fresh and quenched thirst. Part two was Frigate Bay Beach. It was the WORST beach ever. There were sharp jagged rocks in the water and many people had their shins torn up. There was only ONE changing room and it was filthy. If you can take a tour of just the plantation, I would recommend it, but avoid Frigate bay Beach. Read Less

Took a taxi tour vs the cruise offered tours. We negotiated the price with Sam the Man (find and use him). He took us around the island, near the Fort, into the Batik gardens and then to Frigate Bay on the far side of the island. St Kitts is trying to become like St Marteen and other islands nearby, but has a long way to go. The have the small village of shops at the end of the pier like most islands, but once you leave that you find yourself in downtwon St Kitts - crowded and not all that clean. Litter and trash on every corner. Compared to Frigate Bay which is very clean and well kept, it was disappointing. If you go there, head on over to Frigate Bay…beautiful and scenic. FYI..the railway tour is very $$ and they now charge $10US to get into the fort.. Read Less

We took the ferry ($20 each, round trip) to Nevis and rented a cab ($50 for two hours). Stops included two churches, a beach, and the pottery. It was nice to visit an island that has been undisturbed by Diamonds International and commercialization. The ferry is a short walk from the pier at St. Kitts. The ferry schedule only allowed us two hours on Nevis. Read Less

After talking to the Visitor's Bureau at the pier, we decided to take a taxi to Cockleshell Bay for $6.50/person each way. At the beach we rented lounges for $5/each and an umbrella for $10. The beach is pretty and overlooks Nevis. There are a couple of bars and restaurants on the beach, a bucket of 6 local beers is $15. There are restrooms and changing rooms with showers here. We chose Cockleshell because of the facilities, some of the beaches closer to the pier only have port-a-potty restrooms. The drive to and from the beach was neat, providing many picture taking opportunities. Read Less

South Friars was an enjoyable taxi ride to an upscale but not expensive beachside place. Very calm water, OK snorkeling. Get there early to score an umbrella. Nice people.

We booked with Miles from Nevis Yacht Charters and had a great day on a private sailing trip. We snorkeled in this great little cove with a ship wreck and Alvin, the first mate, jumped into the water and showed us some fish and a whole lobster family! While we are all experienced snorkelers, this would also be a great trip for beginner snorkelers as the conditions were really good. If you have a family or a small group and want to get away from the crowds for a day, this is the excursion for you! Read Less
