Booked a Kayak & Snorkel package from The Tour Store (www.stkittstourstore.com) $50pp US. Arrived at the appointed time to find that the tour time had changed to 2 hours earlier so we missed it. They tried to call us but we didn't get the call as we were on ship. Did have a message on our cell phone once we got back to San Juan but that didn't help. The staff was helpful in trying to book something else but nothing sounded good to us. They cheerfully refunded our deposit. We then took a tour from one of the local people standing at the end of the pier with a tag line of "Cruise ship tour but not the cruise ship price" Very true. The tour ended up being the worst one of the trip but only cost $20pp US. Wish we had spent more and got a better tour. The island is very scenic but we only saw a bit a most of it from a moving van, didn't get out much. Talked with other cruisers who did the Brimstone Hill/Train tour and they loved it. Same with beach tour of Cockleshell. Will know better next time. Read Less

In all fairness we've been on this island before and the Brimstone Hill is well worth a visit for the historic fort and beautiful vistas, but, it has only mediocre beaches.

Disappointed with St Kitt's, it was just too "third-world" for us. Main part of town outside the pier is dirty and in poor condition. The park in front of the Catholic church was in terrible shape. Took a taxi to Brimstone Hill, but instead of just a trip out there then over to Frigate Beach, the driver turned it into a painful 3 hour island tour. The beach was a non-stop parade of locals asking to give us massages, braid my wife's hair, give foot rubs, or sell us crappy trinkets. Generally an unenjoyable port for us. Read Less

Oh my! I have to give snaps to our tour guide on the narrow gauge train excursion. She is very proud of her "modern" country that has indoor plumbing, electricity and cable in every house as she continued to point out to the tourists on board. The tour through the former sugar cane fields had it's moments, especially when we had to hope the cows got off the train track in time. However the rest of the tour, while seeing some colorful houses with rebar sticking out the top (just in case they wanted to build a second story) mostly the tour just accentuated the poverty. I am sure the other side of the island where the fancy resorts and hotels are located miss this view entirely. Read Less

Again, no shore excursions we opted to walk around a bit by ourselves. Very little to see, although we found it interesting to experience a not-so-touristy section of town once we walked a few blocks from the ship.
