Was very nice. A little breezy in places but a lovely beach stop and enjoyed the local info.

Once you've been there, you need not return. Took a tour we found at the end of the pier. It was good and a better value than a comparable ship tour.

We rented a car at the cruise port since we had been to St. Croix years ago but remembered our way around. Went to the botanical gardens, which were nice, and then to Point Udall, which has great views. There's not much to do on the island, but snokeling at Buck Island (which we did not do this time) is a must. We had a nice casual lunch (fish and chips) at Rum Runners at the marina in Christiansted. Read Less

To be honest, it was too hot to explore very far, but Fort Fredericksted was quite interesting. The town itself was very small with little of interest aside from a small market. Probably worth taking a trip to Christiansted if you go...

Walked from the Pier to Sand Castle on the Beach. Beautiful little hotel and only $10 for two chairs, an umbrella and a welcome drink. The owners Ted and Chris were always present and making sure everyone was happy and having a good time. The beaches here on a whole are rocky but there were clear paths to enter the water, which was divine. Took a nice slow walk back to ship. Most establishments were closed as it was Sunday but a few stalls and bars did open. I will definitely return here, if given the chance as I had a wonderful time. Read Less

Not much to do at the port area, we had been here before and toured the island and the Cruzan and Captain Morgan distilleries

We love St Croix. We are biased because we actually own a villa there but there are many good reasons to visit for a day, a week, or forever. It's not your typical port of call for cruise ships. There are no Diamond Internationals or Margaritavilles. You will find a laid back vibe in an interesting town of Fredericksted and the most friendly people anywhere. Cruise ships are much less common here than in nearby St Thomas so the locals put their heart into it. There are pop up tents selling local goods and nearly restaurants and bars for relaxing time. Try a locally brewed Leatherback beer! For more shopping and more upscale restaurants as well as a pretty boardway with bars and restaurants take a taxi or a tour to nearly Christiansted. This small city is also full of some great Danish architecture. For more adventure, go on a hike in the rain forest or jeep tour on rough dirt roads with great views. You can walk to a nice beach right near the ship, down a bit is The Fred Hotel, a small boutique hotel with chairs and umbrellas. A little further is Rainbow Beach, a great spot. A cab ride away is Cane Bay with great snorkling and the famous Wall for scuba divers. Definitely get off and venture into & then beyond F'sted. You're in a US flagged paradise, so enjoy! Read Less

Walked (about a mile or so) to SandCastle Beach resort. Water SUPER clear. $10 pp gets use of beach, chairs, umbrellas and 1 drink (nice rum punch). Owners incredibly friendly, but as this is a "resort" drinks are priced accordingly (meaning don't be looking for that $10 bucket of beers ;-) Beach is smaller, and some large rocks to avoid getting in and out of water, so be aware if have mobility issues. You can take an island bus to Frederiksted (which is a bigger city) for next to nothing or pay a lot more for a taxi. The taxi drivers lied to us about the bus and said it didn’t go there. Ask a local for bus information. We did not end up going to Frederiksted. I’m a children’s author and did an author visit at a local school instead. Read Less
