Walked the stores and did shopping. Went for a drink in bar with great view of beautiful yachts in port. Booked a catamaran and spent the afternoon swimming in clear blue water. Awesome!!

We hopped in a taxi right outside the port terminal and for $25 we went to Nikki Beach (10 min ride). We rented a sunbed at the Nikki restaurant ($120 for the day), swam in the beautiful water, had a delicious lunch and people watched. The hotel next to Eden Roc called a taxi for us and we browsed the shops near the port. It was great that it was a late departure time, we really made the most of the day. St. Barts is very expensive but it was worth the splurge! Read Less

St. Barth's really doesn't like cruise ships. People are nice enough, but we really aren't their primary market. The island is SUPER expensive, and super trendy. I bought a swimsuit here because I needed one, and it fits better than anything I've ever owned in my life, and also cost more than a couple of my evening gowns did. We were there on Christmas Day and the streets were nearly empty. The shops opened for a couple of hours and the restaurants on the way to Shell Beach were open. That was about it. Quiet and sleepy described the day. We went to Shell Beach and it was underwhelming, crowded, expensive, and not really all that worthwhile to us. Back that the ship, I had a wonderful time "yacht-spotting" by finding all of the owners of all of the superyachts docked in the harbour and figuring out who was in St. Bart's already for NYE. It was a rather amusing way to pass the time. Read Less

We had been to St Barts before and rented a car, but the roads are so narrow and twisty that we had a hard time actually getting to the places we wanted to see. The excursions in St Barts were all cancelled because it was Christmas day. I thought (correctly) that I might have trouble getting a taxi. So I booked a taxi driver through the internet and we had a very nice tour for 150 euros. Read Less
