First impressions were not god, mainly because there were four cruise ships in the day we visited so the place was rammed. However we persevered and found Split to be a delightful town. It has a lovely promenade and the old town is serene - just pootle around and get lost in the narrow back street and you will find some real treasures. The main touristy area can be heaving though. Only wanted to visit the town itself. It's a magnificant place, within walking distance of the port. Somewhere we would want to go back to.

Very unwelcoming place. If the vendors there want to make more money from tourists I would suggest it may be in their interest to accept Euros. Hardly anyone on this cruise had their local currency

Cosmopolitan area. Refreshing. Great plaza area for drinks and grub. I paid a taxi driver 80 Euro for a three hour tour. Castles, local areas. Excellent.

Love Split. Rare medieval city still used today. Beautiful views from walk up the mountain. Great historical background. Enjoyed it immensely

Not a nice walk from the port to Diocletian's Palace, on the edge of the water, very busy. Found the town lacking in charm, and the market full of hustlers and junk. Not our favourite.
