40 Santos (Sao Paulo) Cruise Reviews

Sao Paulo (Santos), Brazil seemed to be a lackluster port merely on the itinerary to refuel the ship. Just another big city in Brazil with anything worth touring very far (about 20 to 30 minutes by shuttle) from the industrial dock.

The boarding was made 2 hours late and when we boarded we received no orientation of dinner or show. We had to go asking.

We booked with cruise line. The tour was about 4 hours and we visited a few highlighted places of Santos, and went up to the summit to have a great view of the city. It is about 4 hours long which is very nice.

Went to coffee museum, rode through city on bus, stopped at beach to see sculpture commemorating Japanese immigrants. Couldn’t hear Guide most of the time. Waste of time and money.

Had no idea what to expect & it was NOT great. Coffee exchange was a lot of nothing and the guide could have done better with audio-vox (mike & transmitter on guide, receiver on guests), like Viking.

there’s nothing around the port, so we took the Celebrity shuttle bus ($15/person) to the city and went shopping and walked along the beachfront promenade

This is a big and relatively dirty industrial port. The trip to Sao Paulo would have been exhausting and expensive so other than a quick exploration of Santos the day was spent relaxing on the ship.

I went to the beach in front of Canal 3, best place to stay, after the beach went walking to a Mall, went there in Uber too. Don´t go to the old part of the city, it´s dirty, old and not a place to see.

I got a taxi from the cruise port to the city centre costing £8 each way, £16 return. I then explored Santos on foot. The highlight was the tram touring the city. The tram ticket cost 16 Real, roughly £4. NCL's excursions cost £79. The coffee museum was dull and lacked an interactive display, also you need a guide that speaks English as all the information is in Portuguese. Read Less

Due to a change in ports-of-call, out tour was on a Sunday. Nothing was open. Tour leader was terrible. Food at lunch was bad. Nothing good to say about the tour or Sao Paulo!
