overrated – long queues for the funicular so got a boat to go round to Oia. 30 Euros per person which included a bus from the port of Oia up to the town and then a return bus at 8pm from Oia to Thira. Taxi from Oia to Thira was 50 euros. Meal was lovely that we had at Dimitris Ammoundi Taverna but expensive at 130 Euros per person for 2 courses and drinks. I have visited Santorini before and it is a beautiful place but it was not borne out by my experience. The actual tour I did of Akrotiri was interesting. But afterwards we were dropped in Fira to get the cable car down to the port whether we wanted to see it or not. The queue was ridiculously long. I queued for three quarters of an hour in the heat. We booked a tour with Santorini Road Trips (George). When NCL changed our dates in Santorini, George was no longer available but booked us with another guide who was amazing! Since we had visited Santorini before, we saw the 3 villages and Akrotiri this time. And, we ended at the black beach at a local restaurant. Everything was superb!
If we visit a third time, we will book with George again! ...
We took the Oia Village tour and were glad we could ride the bus up the mountain and see the arid countryside and how the people live outside town. Great photograph opportunities in Oia with wonderful water views. We walked the main path to the tram and mostly saw shops and restaurants, but with lovely flowers and churches.
