Santorini is NOT the postcard blue dome destination you might expect if you are visiting by cruise ship. I understand it's a completely different experience if you are staying overnight and can experience the compact towns and sites without the mob of cruises that we (I'm sorry) were a part of. There are other Greek islands not on the cruise ship itineraries that are better choices. ...
Iconic Santorini! Poster for the Greek Isles. Tranquility, beauty, international cachet. Ahhh, who would have believed it is all that and more, but could it be less?
No! Walk to the heights of the caldera and let the beautiful landscape pull all stress out of your body. Let the cool breezes pull the heat from you. Sit at a table perched on the side of the remnants of an ancient volcano and ...
We loved Santorini. We did the Ultimate Santorini tour through NCL. I would recommend this one. Akrotiri was really cool but our time was cut short b/c the tour didn't start on time . We loved Oia and they give you 1.5 hours to explore. The dinner in Fira was decent. They served us very quickly so we had time to walk around before going back to the ship. ...
We splurged on a private tour. This was quite good because we got to see a lot of the island without having to wait for people getting on and off buses. Our guide was young but informative. The only thing he didn’t factor in any time for lunch so when the tour finished after six hours we were quite hungry. However he did make sure that we saw all the sights. Would have liked more time just to ...

This time there were 5 !!! ships in port at once. We had no problem going UP on the cable cars as we had planned a private early morning tour at 7:45am. This was our kids' first visit so we wanted to do an all-around-the-island tour. ...
In Santorini, you dock below the town of Fira, tender to the dock, and take a cable car 6EUR up to the town. Being in a Suite we got priority tendering so we did not have to get tender tickets or wait in a line we got escorted straight to the tender when we were ready. We got off the ship at 8:30 and were in Fira just after 9 am.
I again booked a tour with Kids Love Greece; our lovely guide met ...
The simultaneous landing of several thousands of cruisers from 3-4 ships create a chaos under the burning sun while waiting for the wire carts to take us up to Fyra. Once up there we were compensated by the stunning views, but had to suffer another 2 hours in the que on the way down. It's best to take a bus tour or a boat tour instead. ...
