Valparaiso had nice restaurants and unique Ascensors for getting up the hills. The town is a busy with old narrow streets that were crowded. Nearby was Vina Del mar which is more of open beach resort town. Santiago is about an hour and a half away. We took a bus to Valparaiso which was less than $10. ...

We arrived at the airport in Santiago and easily and cheaply got transportation to Valparaiso. At the airport look for the BUS kiosks behind the Taxis. Pay the driver in local currency. Take the bus to Terminal Pajaritos. Buy a ticket to Valparaiso from any of the many companies providing service. Buses run regularly.
