Tender port, but easy to handle. At dock, lots of stands and a place to drink a beer or soda. Sat around, visited and then to water boat back to ship.

Granada, Masaya Market and Volcano. Saw musicians in a marketplace. Masaya Volcano was interesting, but couldn't get a very good view.

Tour to Granada, which is not of great interest, but does the best it can with what it has. The bus was super-cooled, the outdoors very hot and humid.

We try to walk from port to the Jesus statue. We walked the wrong way. When you walk along side the beach walkway to the end you see a crazy crab I walked to the right I should walk to the left to the beach. So I ended up taking a taxi $5 to the statue. There are approximately 100 steps to walk up. There is a guy at the entrance to collect $2 each entrance fees. The view up there is amazing. Must visit. We walked back to the pier. There are many shops, bars and restaurants near the port. Read Less

We probably should have booked a tour to get out of town, but the choices all required long bus rides and the activities didn’t really suit our styles.

Too long of a bus ride for the reward. We did see the volcano & red hot lava flowing. The crater lake was nice but we did not get to spend a lot of time there.

One of my favorite ports as the tour took us to Volcano to look into caldera. No magma to see that day but very impressive. We also stopped at an artisan market and had enough time to ship. The colonial town of Granada was next and had interesting walk about to see famous hotel, art museum, traditional dancers. Our tour guide had very interesting stories about the Sandinistas and changes to country. Most informative and great pace with variety of sights! Felt very safe along the way. Read Less

Fascinating! LIke going back in time. We took a way too small bus (apparently our group was left-overs - not enough people for a real bus) and were very, very uncomfortable for the 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive in each direction and I couldn't understand a word the guide said (my hearing issue). BUT. Really interesting things to see: Houses, farmyards, villages, people on pilgrimage with ox-carts, people pulling trailers with bicycles. Grenada is a beautiful town - stunning ironwork and such a palette of housepaint colors! We had a delightful, cool boat ride through Las Isletas on Lake Nicaragua and had an excellent lunch before climbing back into the horrible bus. I would do this trip again, but not in that bus.
