After lunch, we got off the ship and we walked along the Embarcadero and then caught a Lyft and went to tiki bar Bali Hai for their happy hour 3-5. Then tried to go to tiki bar False Idol but they were closed for a private party. Walked around downtown and back to the ship. ...

We were not planning on getting off the ship at all on this trip, but once we saw how few people were on board and no people watching, we decided to get off in San Diego. We woke up at 8:30 and saw the trolley tour of San Diego. I called down to the front desk and got us on the tour. It was the hop on hop off trolley that is operated in the city. This tour was a private version of the tour. ...

The ship docked downtown as usual. Beautiful views of the waterfront, harbor, USS Midway and the six or so ships that make up the San Diego Maritime Museum. We walked to the Maritime Museum and checked out the ships. You can board the USS Dolphin submarine, but not the decrepit Soviet submarine. They have a recreation of the ship Juan Cabrillo used to explore California in the 1500’s and the Star ...

We took a bus tour of the city which also took us to La Jolla and Balboa Park. San Diego is one of my favorite cities, and it is always a pleasure to see it. One stop in La Jolla along the coast was delightful, with time to watch swimmers, seals, and sea birds. Another stop in Old Town was also enjoyable, with time to shop and have drinks and nachos al fresco at a little Mexican restaurant. Our ...

I could have used more time in San Diego. First, it was warmer than San Francisco, so it was better for pooltime than San Francisco, if nothing else. The San Diego Zoo was awesome! It filled a hole in my science-geek heart. I'd go back. If we had more time I would have liked to visit Coronado Island, maybe a lunch at the Hotel Del Coronado, maybe a beach day there. Or visit the San Diego Zoo ...
