we chose this san diego tour which ended at the airport where we retrieved our luggage from under the bus. A surprise was Balboa Park, which is more like Epcot (somewhat) than a plain park. There is really too much to see and do in one day, but I would suggest going to Balboa Park as there is lots to do there. Also, go to see the Del Coronado Hotel if you haven't been there before--it's a beautiful old hotel and the beach is nice in that area. ...
