Pompei/ Amalfi Coast Boat excursion purchased for $189. Boat trip cancelled and substituted with a drive to Sorrento and being dumped at the square for an hour to spend on your own. They did credit us $39.95 for this change but this hardly equalled what we lost out on. They should have compensated us $80 at least. How can you compare a 2 hour boat cruise down the Amalfi coast to being dumped in a citysquare. You don't have time to see anything. I felt that Princess robbed us of some money here. They also didn't give us any say on the matter. Poor experience. Read Less

Stopping point for Amalfi coast and Pompeii. Booked tour to Herculaneum and Pompeii. Would not book through Marella. Tour of Cameo factory before we'd even left Salerno. Felt bulldozed in the restaurant for lunch by tour guide. Waiter huffed as we paid by card.......but we did have cash for €64 lunch. He gave no info or showed us road to follow into town. Read Less

We went for a little walk to waterfalls, and it was very nice. The lemon trees were cool to see. We wished we had booked a lemon tour - we could not get in because they were full and we had not pre-booked.

We decided to just take the free shuttle to the center of town and walk around on our own. It was delightful.

Not as convenient as docking in Sorrento or even Naples, as takes time to get to the interesting parts of Campania. We hired a private excursion from Sorrento Limo and visited an olive oil manufacturing facility, an organic farm and got to make our own pizzas for lunch. A cruise highlight for our family. We stayed local once again and it was a treat. Walking to the Cathedral of St. Matthew, we stumbled upon an interesting little places filled with huge cut outs of the Nativity scene and other just folk. It was very nice. If you visit the Cathedral DEFINITELY go down to the Crypt and you will be surprised by the paintings and how stunningly beautiful it is. Another tucked away treasure is the Gardens of Minerva, a botanical garden dating back to the Mediveal Ages. There is also a cafe overlooking Salerno where we enjoyed Lemoncellos and biscuits. Loved this port. We took the local ferry on our own to Amalfi and then Positano and then back to Salerno. About a 20-30 minute walk to the ferry from the cruise but flat and easy to find. Ferry is crazy rocky if you are motion sensitive.

Salerno is not an interesting port, still it gives easy access to Poitano and Amalfi which are great tourist destinations.

A visit to Pompeii. Make sure to include a guide if you do. We didn’t and found ourselves wandering the ruins aimlessly. It was nice but could have been better.

We booked a private excursion to Pompeii. the driver picked us up by the ship and drove us to Vesuvius and Pompeii, pointing out sights along the way. The guide was wonderful customizing the tour to show us items we were interested in.

Beautiful views of the Amalfi coast as we took our bus tour along to Sorrento. "taste of Sorrento" trip started by watching Mozzarella chees being made followed by wine & food tasting, all very enjoyable followed by free time

By far the best port on the cruise. We took the motorlaunch up the coast to Amalfi. What a beautiful place. Can't wait to return.
