Pretty grubby port, right next to concrete plant, with dust and heat. Shuttled out to taxi's- a zoo with expensive haggling. Look around town, the old soukh is just about gone in the name of pretty soulless development - a real shame as Soukh was one of the places with any character. Being fairly strict Muslim country thre were few places to get a drink (None we could find) and the shopping was expensive. Read Less

Not a lot here. We took a taxi into the town. There is actually a nice beach just near where the boat docks. Worth finding out about. We only found it because the taxi driver took us there on the way back.

The first stop on our tour was a souk for some shopping. Then we climbed the mountain to Job's tomb. Last stop was Mughsail Beach. The beach was beautiful and well worth a visit.

There is not much in the port to see. It is very expensive to take a cab - round trip into the old souk was $70. You might be better off taking a tour.

Another port where I would suggest you take an excursion from the ship or organise something up front. If you take the ships shuttle to the port entrance the taxi people standing waiting to take you wherever you want to go need to be bartered with and they all tell you something different with each one shouting over the other. The town itself is some 20 minute drive from the port entrance. There is a hotel near the port entrance you can visit but that's it. so really an excursion is the most viable option. There is a port shop which sells mens clothing and other supermarket type items.Dubai would have been a preferable stop rather than Salalah. Arriving in Salalah Port was fun for us as this was our first port ever on a Cruise. We had heard all sorts of people complaining about how expensive it was to go into the town. We had a quick chat with the Seabourn official while waiting for the shuttle to take you to the port gate. She said the problem is that they want your business for as long as possible, so they take advantage if you ask for one way travel. So if you say I want to go to the Al Husn Souk, they will say $80. If you say I want to go to the Souk, be there for 2 hours and come back to the port, they will say $80. So that is what we did. Make sure you make them specify Dollars or Pounds or whatever you are paying in. We agreed on Dollars and then when he returned us to the port the taxi driver asked for Euros. We said no we agreed on dollars and he never questioned it after that. The souk was fun, we bought incense and frankincense and a burner. Read Less
