Extremely dirty and large city. People trying to get you to eat in their restaurants or shop in their stores everywhere. Pick picketers are everywhere. Avoid this city at all costs. ...

I had to give 5 stars for Rome even though it was very crowded and the ride from the port was 1-1/2 hours. We had to go to the Vatican. Took an excursion with only 15 people to the Vatican and surrounding area (Trevi fountain). It was very good but so crowded in the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. Wish they would control access so people could really enjoy the artifacts and art. They do that in ...

We ended up in this lovely city - Civitavecchia for two nights, unplanned. However, we found the hotel and surrounding restaurants and shops to be quite lovely. If you ever get a chance you should visit this lovely place. ...

Rome is my favorite city in the world. We’ve visited it often and arrived two-days prior to the cruise to allow us to visit our favorite spots in Rome before we embarked on our cruise. We stayed at the Best Western El Presidente in central Rome a few blocks from the Colosseum. It was a very nice hotel with a fantastic breakfast buffet. We visited the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hills, Trevi ...

Rome is full of things to experience. We had 2 days pre-cruise to wonder and it wasn't enough. Buy tickets in advance to see the coliseum and the Vatican. Italians all know a little English, but may not be fluent. They also like to encourage you to sit at a table so they can charge a steep service fee. Sometimes it's worth it take a table, sip wonderful espresso and enjoy the atmosphere, but ...

Rome is Rome...Romantic and lovely. We spent a total of four days and loved it! We shopped, ate at many great restaurants, enjoyed great entertainment including an opera singer in one of the plazas. Only in Rome. We stayed at The Artemide and the Royal Splendide. Both were excellent in service, beauty and location. Have to say Royal Splendide was just exquisite. It is a stunning hotel and ...

We booked a tour through Viator, we had tour guide Eric, we lucked in as we were only 2 people on the tour, it was incredible. MSC discourages you from booking on your own as they say Rome is too far from the port, which is incorrect, the train station is a 15 minutes walk and the train is a 30 minutes ride. ...

It's a must to schedule a week extra before or after to visit Rome. Use the free shuttle or pay 6 Euro to go to train station in the city to take train to Rome or Airport. Very cheap to use trains. 40-50 Euro each to use a shared taxi . ...
