Interesting historical town with amazing mosaics and buildings but Ravenna is Italy with the fun taken out, it’s far too serious and lacks the usual Italian energy and buzz. We were in port a total of 11 ½ hours from 6:30AM to 6PM. The early arrival was great for tours to Venice but very little was open in Ravenna before 9AM. We decided to tour the city on our own and did not leave the ship until 8AM. NCL provided shuttle buses from the port to the city center, 9 miles away, for $20 per person round trip. In Ravenna we booked a mosaic tour through TripAdvisor. There was a shuttle that took you from the ship to the town center (but didn’t run during lunch, which meant the first afternoon bus was full so you had to wait for the second or even third bus).
