Pretty island --- very nice pier area --- just walked around and did some window shopping. The pier area is difficult for scooters and there were no private tours which would accommodate it. This is a French speaking island so a little difficult if you don't understand the language. ...

Nice island. Flatter than Bora Bora and Moorea. Took a boat trip from the dock to the only navigable river in Fr. Polynesia. $70 booked on shore. The river wasn't great, but the trip out there was. We were dropped off at a public Motu (small outer island) where swimming and beach were available and delightful. Snorkeling was superb and you didn't need equipment to see fish and rays. They ...

The marae is definitely interesting to visit. We had 30 minutes there, could have used more. But it takes at least 30 minutes to get there. We took the "school bus tour" - an open sided vehicle which we booked dockside. The downtown area has a nice square where there is an excellent dance show upon ship's arrival. There are also some very nice boutiques. This is the place to buy black ...

You don't go to Tahiti for the towns; you go for the beaches, resorts and the water. We did a pearl farm tour at my partner's request. I wasn't over enthused about doing this tour but ended up enjoying it very much. It really was very interesting and I can recommend it. ...

Get off the ship early as it is caotic in the visitors center and you will miss out, or if you pre-booked a tour and don't get off early enough they will leave without you ...

The ship actually anchors near Motu Mahana, the cruise line's private island in the vicinity of Taha'a, which in turn is the sister island of Raiatea. We booked the "Coral Garden Drift Snorkel" excursion on the ship. For experienced snorkelers, this is a great experience. A couple of boats picked up the group directly from the ship. We were dropped off at a small island and walked for a few ...

Should have worked harder for a tour. Change of schedule meant a lack of time at the port which meant a previously organised private tour to a private island had to be cancelled. (That would have been a 5+ too) ...
