We choose this cruise primarily because of the transit of the Panama Canal. However, the overall theme of 'adventure' was an important aspect. The ship seemed perfectly suited to the type of cruise, but was somewhat basic. Having been on a Mekong small ship Cruise last year we had probably been spoiled!!
Cabin was small with wash basin within main cabin area, but just about adequate. ...
We took a back-to-back cruise on the Quest in Central America, the Pacific Coast and Sea of Cortez, from 26 January to 21 February: embarked Puerto Caldera in Costa Rica, exited San Diego. We are an older couple, my wife has mobility difficulties, and long-time cruisers. In both voyages we had an accessible stateroom: first a continental suite, second an ocean view.
We had an extended trip on ...
We were on the January 21st sailing of the Costa Rica & Panama Canal cruise. It was our first cruise with Windstar (over the past 10 years Oceania has been our primary line). Our cabin was very spacious and well maintained, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. However, the ship's exterior and public areas showed more wear-and-tear than we had expected, such as rusty areas on the hull ...
This was our second cruise with Windstar, having sailed the first time on the Windsurf last year, we were excited to see Costa Rica on their new Star Breeze. The ship was not quite full 181 pax)....perfect. We loved our cabin location (307), and definitely loved the size! Walk in closets and larger bathrooms with double sinks are a plus. A nice little French balcony allowed you to take a peek out ...
After flying in to San Jose, CR we stayed overnight at Apartotel La Sabana (very nice/good value) and toured across CR with a tour that we had arranged with 3 other couples through Odyssey Tours (very nice). Got a great view of Poas volcano, lunch at Freddo Fresas (great place) and stopped at La Paz Gardens (OK). We boarded the Journey in Puerto Caldera. The boarding experience was routine. We ...
We were lucky; we got a substantial discount, including all shore excursions free, our boat was only half capacity, and the folks we did sail with were some of the most congenial we've ever met. If not for all this, I fear we may have been disappointed.
The Voyager is a very attractive boat, the crew uniformly friendly, helpful, and cheerful. (I suspect that was mainly due to we being such an ...
My husband and I have cruised before on the Windstar Wind Surf and enjoyed tremendously so we decided to try the Jan 2 - Jan 9, 2016 Costa Rican cruise aboard the Windstar Star Breeze to celebrate his 60th birthday.
We flew into San Jose on New Year's Eve and stayed at the Hotel Intercontinental at Escazu/MultiPlaza Mall for two nights. Nice hotel; would stay there again. It's across the ...
We boarded the "yacht", capacity 212, to sail south to and through the panama canal. There were numerous shore excursion and we enjoyed all, and the crew worked hard on the island adventure providing excursion and Bbq lunch. Overall, the service was great and we enjoyed the crew, esp. Sammy, Andi, Tata and Dian. The cabin was clean and well cared for. Two glitches occurred however. Our first ...
Costa Rica on Wind Star March 17-24,2007
I will try to keep this from being long-winded, but I can't promise anything as this was a great trip! If you are a planner, read on- otherwise skip the reviews and just let your vacation unfold... DH and I went with a group of 14 couples from San Diego and Oregon ranging from age 40's to 60's, many of us having cruised together before on the Gauguin. If ...
