This town is safe and easy to walk around. It was hot out! Definitely recommend the marina, which is about a 15 minute walk from the pier. The seals were hilarious and HUGE. The hand statue was fun, but get there early before there are lines of people. The statue was maybe a 10 minute walk from the ship - it was close. No excursion needed in this port. Read Less

Great tendered port. This is a resort town with a nice beach, walkable main town mall area, with a few places to eat and shop, and of course, the hand in the sand at Paseo De Las Americas, Playa Brava at Parada 1 (where most tourists headed). We ate lunch here since we were tired of the bland food aboard the Pursuit. Had fresh shrimp, langoustines, and salmon at Leonardo Etxea, a Basque Restaurant located at Joaquin Lenzia c/Bv. Artigas. It was all very fresh and excellent. Read Less

excursions were good and interesting. I did the bike tour and my husband did the Sea Wolves Island tour. We enjoyed both. The biking group included a range of abilities. The guide let us more experienced riders bike ahead at our pace which was great. In the afternoon, we walked from the pier to one of the beautiful beaches in town to experience the scene. Worth the walk. Read Less

On a bus tour of the town. Saw a wonderful museum that should not be missed. They had a traveling Chagall exhibit there and beautiful paintings.

Punta Del Este is beautiful. The only downside is the tender ride from the ship to the dock. Very reasonable tours are available from the dock area.

A lovely seaside town. We walked along the boardwalk to the hand sculpture on the beach and then walked back along the Main Street. Beach was lovely, nice and clean.

Loved this place and had a great time with a local guide. We were even treated to a floor show over lunch followed by our dancing the conga. What a great introduction to the place.

Walked about the peninsular area near the port. No real sights to see but a very pleasant town. The sea lions near the port were very entertaining.

Went to an olive producing farm (Lotte 8). Took about an hour to get there by coach but saw loads of scenic Uruguay which surprisingly looked a lot like Devon/UK. Interesting and informative host and good talk about olive producing. Provided wine/bread/olive oil tasting and we walked round the olive trees on our own after asking the owner if we could! Punta del Este seemed like a nice place (we didn't have time to see it on this tour) but while we waited to board the tender boat, we saw lots of sealions who had come for a free feed at the local fish shop. They were amazing and huge! I don't think HAL are going there anymore which is a shame but glad I went when I could. Usual good weather, although was a bit British-like at the olive farm (drizzly and cold!!) Read Less
