Charlottetown might seem small, but it boasts some of the most sophisticated and yet affordable handcraft sellers among all the places I'd visited in this cruise. Many of those stores were between the cruise ship berth and the main street. An Irish pub (Olde Dublin) serves CAD1 oysters after 4pm upon drink consumption - those were reasonable good. Read Less

After sailing some stormy seas on another sea day we arrived in Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island, Canada's smallest province. Upon leaving the ship we were met by our guide for the day, the wonderful Duncan and we were off to explore parts of Canada's smallest province. Duncan toured us all day long and was a superb guide. We saw Anne of Green Gables house, some incredible light houses, stopped by a place where we tasted and bought some of the best preserves ever and so much more. Duncan has been doing this for a very long time and really took great care of us. We even had a really cool encounter with a PEI fox. We would highly recommend touring with Duncan. He works with Target Tours and if you book with them, ask for Duncan. He's one of the best guides we have had in our travels. Read Less

Taxi driver gave us a tour of the city, took us to see Anne of Green Gables, through the National Park, Rustico, fishing villages and we stop at The Dunes - a store with the most beautiful gardens.

This town is adorable, very quaint and easy to walk around with a cute park near the harbor. This was also a tender port but there was no fog and it was a much shorter distance. We asked restaurant recommendations in the cruise terminal and headed to the Water Prince Corner Shop based on two in-person recommendations and Yelp. It is a tiny place and we arrived early (before 11:30 am) so we were able to get a table. A short time later, there was a line out the door. The service was beyond slow and one in our party was warned that the lobster dinner would take even longer. Based on that, we ordered a lobster roll, the fried oyster dinner and fish cakes. The food was decent, but not great. The lobster roll had a good flavor but very little filling but the potato salad was very good. The service was not only extremely slow, but our waitress was rude. We asked about free refills after we were charged for iced tea refills and she responded that there are no free refills - it’s “an American thing”. I’m not sure if she dislikes Americans or is rude to everyone, but it was very disappointing. Perhaps the restaurant gets enough business from locals to not need tourist business. I would recommend visitors look for a different restaurant where their business will be appreciated. Read Less
