We took the metro to Porto and caught the bus back, which worked well, but we were far from impressed with Porto which was very tatty city with little of interest. Would not wnat to go there again.

Nice town. Some great food at some of the restaurants. This port more than most made us feel that SilverSea didn't care what happened to us since we didn't pay their outrageous excursion prices.

Enjoyed the tour -- tour was to short -- did not allow enough time for shopping and walking around. Not enough time in Port -- need to allow more time in Port so you can enjoy Porto.

Leixoes is a pleasant but provincial town on the coast of Portugal. Had the weather been kind I've no doubt we would have enjoyed the town a lot more, especially after two days at sea crossing the Bay of Biscay! Unfortunately, it rained heavily during the morning and by the time we were due to leave the weather was only just fairing up. However, we visited the local shops and had a very pleasant coffee and cake on the main street. Oporto is some way from Leixoes and easily accessible by Metro but since our time was limited and we'd been before we didn't go there. Read Less

Lots to see here. We joined a free walking tour around the city and learned a lot about the history. Be prepared to walk up and down steep hills. Try the port (yum).

An opportunity to learn about and taste the various types of port. More detailed than I was interested in but the port was tasty.

Would have liked more time here. Wanted to see the library but the queue was too long. We needed more buses to go back to the ship. People waited for the last bus and had to stand part of the way back.

We took the Tui provided bus (£7pp open return) into town and walked up and down the hills. If you get to the river it is possible to take the 6 bridges boat trip €15 which takes about an hour. Nice gentle cruise up and down the river going under the variety of bridges the cross the Douro river. Many other attractions and museums in the city to go and see as well as an old fashioned tram system the lots of people seem to want to take a ride on. Read Less

Red Bull event going on along the River which added some interest to the day. Beautiful city, bus ride from ship was okay. Enjoyed our time there on our own. Walked a lot, very hilly.

This is a lovely city. For us, the trouble was that it was very very busy. The shuttle is a necessity because the cruise terminal is well away from the City. We were dropped off at the top of it, amidst the loudest emergency vehicle sirens we had ever heard. And trams rumble about with apparent scant regard for inexperienced pedestrians. However, with a map it is not difficult to walk to the river. Find the stairs beside the bridge and it is an enjoyable walk down to the river. Take a river trip. It is lovely. Not expensive and, with the walk up the hill again, it may be enough for you. It was for us. Read Less
