Phnom Penh is a small capital with a few interesting landmarks and parks but is not outstanding. There are some central markets and night markets that are also not outstanding for variety and quality. There is a sky bar on the top of the largest hotel that is worth a trip to take photos at sunset. There are excursions to small villages and temple complexes that are interesting as well as the Killing fields which although gruesome is worth the trip. Read Less

Palaces were interesting, night market was the lowest price and most culturally interesting (picnics, keroeke), but best was exploring the neighborhoods on tuk tuk where the average person lives.

Exciting city that offers wonderful sightseeing opportunities if you arrive early; very inexpensive to get a great massage or stay in a luxury hotel with fabulous amenities.

We had a fun tour by kuk kuk in the evening here. Really enjoyed it. Rested on the boat during the day. Went to the tunnels and it was a real eye opener.

The Royal Palace and its grounds were actually quite impressive, but it was particularly hot that morning. The Killing Fields were sobering but less "difficult" than we expected. The National Museum was not worth the time, unless you're really into statues of the Hindu gods. Walking through the food market was a real treat, and the tuk-tuk ride through town was fun. Read Less

Besides seeing the capital city of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, there are two additional days of outlining excursions to Oudong and Kampong Tralach. In the capital city of Phnom Penh, you take a Tuk Tuk ride from the hotel to the city center to see Independence monument, a sacred Buddhist Pagoda and the residence on Cambodia Prime Minister. The Tuk Tuk ride itself is a really fun adventure as you travel around the city. You can't help but notice all of the construction of high rise buildings going on and the Chinese influence based on all of the infrastructure capital coming from the Chinese. The other outline excursions are also very interesting. The Buddhist monastery that resides on top of the hillside city of Kampong Tralach, which used to be the capital prior to the late 19th century. The monastery is huge and you learn a lot of about the lives of monks living in Cambodia and will receive a Buddhist blessing which is really cool. Finally you have the option to travel to the city of Oudong to take a fun oxcart ride. It's a short excursion but well worth the 30 minute bus ride to get there. I enjoyed the two outlining cities better than the capital city of Phnom Penh. Read Less

With the exception of the Royal Palace, the city is a bit grotty with lots of trash littering the streets and roadworks causing complete traffic mayhem.

We overnight in Phnom Penh. This is the only port where you may get on and off the ship as you like until 11pm when the ship closes for the night.
