Food and service were excellent; the cruise on the Danube in Budapest was great

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Emerald Destiny

Wanted to try and see the difference in this line as compared to others. Cabin size is small and I think it is because of the lay out of the cabin. Could have been better but overall ok. Food and service was very good. The staff works very hard every day. Cruise Director, Patricia, was outstanding. Pool on back of deck 3 was very nice touch. All in all would do it again. The meet at the ...

Good but not 5 star

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Scenic Amber

Chose this cruise as we had never done a river cruise. First two to three days food was certainly not 5 star, we thought the chef had been replaced as the food certainly improved. I must mention Branislav the waiter who went the extra mile and Francis the butler was very keen to please. Waiter was asked by a guest for a dessert wine, which he brought, when asked by another guest if he could ...

Wonderful first time river cruise

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Vilhjalm

We had read reviews and heard from friends what a great cruise experience this would be so we decided to book it as well. We were not disappointed. The crew were warm, professional and friendly, our cabin was typically small but very comfortable and the itinerary was very informative ports of call. The food was quite good but we had limited entree choices which was a bit disappointing. ...

We chose this cruise because it was going to all the places we wanted to go. We had such a wonderful experience on our first cruise we decided to try another. The pre and post stays were in cities that we have always wanted to see. The shore excursions were also things we wanted to see and do. Let me begin with a very unpleasant beginning with the initial booking. When I initially booked ...

Great First River Cruise; Pros and Cons

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on AmaPrima

We have never been on a cruise of any kind and chose AMA based on the recommendation of a friend/travel agent. We were looking for a ship with a small number of passengers and a solid reputation. AMA is apparently known for the food onboard and bundled activities - both did not disappoint. The staff on board were all fantastic and well trained in customer service. Extra effort was made by all ...

This was our first river cruise after many ocean cruises so some of our views may be influenced by this. We travelled independently to Prague but purchased the AMA transfer from Prague to the boat in Vilshofen. The transfer left the Hilton Old Town at 8 am stopping for a a lunch break and guided walk in Regensberg. The boat was lovely and immaculate. Our balcony cabin on deck 2 was very ...

To begin last year there was a drought on the danube and you could not start where you were suppose to. The cruise never told us until the day it left prague. I wish someone had told me not to go out every day and rush around and stay on the boat one day and crusie down, or you dont get to see any beautiful countryside cause at nite its dark when the boat was moving. The nites they had special ...

We wanted to see parts of Europe we had not spent much time in and a river cruise on such an historic waterway intrigued us. We picked a time of year when we thought the weather would be comfortable and the river water level would not be too low or too high. We thought going downstream would mean the engines would not have to work as hard and thus would be more quiet. Our planning worked fine and ...

Good and bad, mostly good. Good = a clean, quiet ship; every meal began on time; meal servers efficient, attentive -- ready with coffee refresher, ready with a second glass of wine or beer; meal portions sensible; food tasty, nicely presented; breakfast buffet variety of items (cereals, eggs, omelets, sausage, fruit, croissants, jams/jellies, OJ, grapefruit juice, coffee, tea, butter, honey, ...

ARosa Bella - Danube Cruise

I wanted to give you an update of our experiences on the Arosa Bella cruise on the Danube. Let me start out that there were 5 of us traveling in 3 cabins. We are all in our late 40's-early 50's. We got a text the night before the cruise was to start while we were in Munich that the locks were down in Slovakia and the boat could not get to Passau so we would be bussed to the boat in Hungary. This ...
