FYI--Princess charges a $16 "excursion fee" to bus you into Le Havre. What Princess DID NOT tell us is it was a NATIONAL HOLIDAY in Le Havre and nothing was open. NOTHING. except a cafe or two. No one speaks much English, so if you speak French you'll do fine. PS We complained to the front desk when i got back onboard, only to have the guy tell me "we can't refund you". The next day, my husband asked and they happily refunded our money when he asked. So there. Read Less

We took a taxi to Honfleur and had a brief look around lovely town and had lunch and some wine there. Again we wish we could have spent longer there?.at least until the shops opened after lunch!

As stated. Lehavre is crumby. I thought there would be a cruise terminal not a rundown building that looked like a wartime hangar.

The first port of call was Le Havre, France where we had scheduled a Celebrity tour of Normandy for all four of us. Unfortunately, the tour was one of the worst we have taken anywhere in the world. The tour guide seemed intent on persuading us all that the French were the true heroes of WWII and the British, not so much. We are neither French nor British, but the hostility toward the British seemed inappropriate for the setting. The tour itself was orchestrated poorly. At Utah beach, the guide walked off the front of the bus and briskly toward the beach, never looking back. By the time the passengers in the back of the bus got off, he was 100 yards away and nearly out of sight. The slower moving passengers barely made it to a point where they could see the beach before it was time to return to the bus. This pattern repeated itself at future stops. We spent 10 minutes at Utah Beach and 5 minutes at Omaha Beach. We did have adequate time to see the American Cemetery, but not enough time to see both the Cemetery and the adjacent museum. We then spent an interminable 3 hours at the big Normandy museum where, once again, at least a dozen passengers could not locate the guide as he led us to lunch. When confronted by several very angry patrons who could not locate him for lunch, his response was belligerent rather than apologetic. Overall, the excursion was the worst we have experienced on any cruise. Read Less

Weather didn't help and I am sure that in the summer it is a much nicer proposition. Shops at the Dockside shopping centre which is stop number 3 on the shuttle bus are OK, the biggest one is a garden centre so be warned. Nice small food market hall and independent stores around that area. Trips are OK with the best in my opinion being Honfleur. Read Less

The taxi waited while we walked around and admired the fantastic view from all angles! Afterwards we went into Etretat town for authentic crepes and hot beverages before our return to the ship. We docked in Le Havre which is a non inspiring port. We opted to make the short journey into town by the courtesy bus. Unfortunately the 10 minute journey took an hour due to a demonstration by French Dockers. The town had little to offer and 2/3 hours including lunch was more than sufficient. Obviously a trip to Paris is possible from Le Havre but we did not fancy the 3 hour journey one way! Read Less

We had to walk around Le Havre because there was a disturbance and violence with the port workers. We finally got off the ship and were able to get into Le Havre...We ate in an open air cafe...when I had to use the bathroom, there was no toilet paper nor could they find any...the bus station in the back was near the toilet and was filthy....They allowed their animals to "poop" on the street and they don't pick it up and many of them(the animals) are off leashes.
