It's France, but it was so bombed out by the British during the war that the whole city was rebuilt in concrete in the 50s.

Le Havre is a French coastal city. It was Monday and nearly everything was closed. Paris and Normandy were 4-5 hour bus rides for 4-5 hours of tours. Not worth the pain and limited other excursions available. This was a location where we should have looked at other than Princess excursions. Why Le Havre on a British Isle cruise? I would have preferred a stop in Manchester or Liverpool. It was like Princess needed a port close to Southampton to dock the ship. Read Less

It was a Sunday, nothing was open in the city. Again, my excursion was taken away because I asked if there was a way to avoid the two hour walk in Roen. They refused to even call the vendor to see if an accomodation could be made.

ended up at this port on another day than originally been scheduled. We had a tour lined up but due to change couldn't reschedule - poor day to arrive as places were not open on Sunday am. Disappointed

There is not much to do in Le Havre itself. Too much hassle to go to Paris (takes 3 hours)

Took shuttle bus into town. Was raining and many of the shops appeared closed, so not much excitement other than a tram ride to the beach, in the rain.

Walked around Le Havre in the rain. The ship didn't tell us that most businesses close for lunch for a couple of hours between 12 and 3 so missed a bunch of places. Found a nice toy store to get a puzzle for the last sea day and also got some great pasteries. It's a fairly easy walk from the ship but it would be nicer on a non-rainy day and also outside of the lunch time. Read Less

The trouble with Le Havre is that if you are not interested in its remarkable but brutal architecture, and if you cannot find your way to its lovely Japanese garden - or even if you do, you find it closed - there is really not a lot to do here, unless you shop. You can walk to the centre - the way is well marked from the cruise terminal - but it is quite a distance with not a great deal of interest along the way. Some remnants of the old port. And you may have to negotiate the traffic coming to or leaving the Brittany Ferries terminal. But handy if you would like to visit Paris. Read Less

Did not like the city very much. We took the 4€ shuttle to the city centre and basically walked to the Docks shopping mall and then back to the ship.

OK for shopping, if you can handle a 10 hour trip into Paris, its a good trip, but you can get the train, same time, but price may be on your side.
